Title: best in-game trainers
Post by: deadae on July 21, 2011, 05:00:25 PM
who was the best in game trainer don't say red because he was set up to be the best and he was easy to beat i mean honestly what trainer gave u a problem in game if any..

that being said i used to train one pokemon to take on gym leaders by their lonesome and i trained a Blaziken that got whooped inside of Norman's gym he is the only gym leader to ever beat one of my pokemon so i say Norman was the best trainer i've ever battled in-game i say steven was the worst trainer in-game cuz i fought on teams with him and he died and i beat him with only blaziken and blazikens not that great by my oppinion

Lt. Surge the lightning American. Not only did he always give me a good whupping, but he was American and a veteran!!! And his Raichu saved his life!!! He had an amazing back story and gave birth to my favorite Pokemon myth. You know the one about the whole generation being killed because of a world war?

Whitney and the Nightmare miltank

Yet again,99% of the ingame trainers aren't even worthy of a loss unless you get uber unlucky.

No Whitney....she whs a baddie -.-

Welcome back, Yoshui :D

also... Either lance... or...

Well... considering my recent play of Leafgreen, I set my game with restrictions.

-Must battle as many trainers as possible
-NO TEMPORARY ITEMS
-One pokemon ONLY, (Excluding HM slaves)

Considering the above restrictions... The whole of the Elite Four is Impossible.

So... them. >.>

Actually, that's one of the easiest restrictions... If you are on a one pokemon roll, it'll usually end up around 70 by the time you get at the league which makes the latter as easy as pie.

Brock and Lt. Surge in Yellow. Misty in R/B with charmander. Wattson in R/S/E with Treecko. Like most of you, Whittney In original S/G/C and new SS/HG. Steven at Meteor Falls in Emerald.

All of the Elites are Easy to beat The champions are hard, but For me it was N. His last two pokemon I could not beat. He beat me like 30 times. Lol.

If it had to be anyone, it would be Cynthia. Everyone else including Alder was a piece of cake. Although, in the original Silver, Red was pretty tough.

I don't know about that. I recently did pretty much the same thing on my own leaf green (except for the no temporary items thing) and my Blastoise did pretty well. Lorelei was the only one who got his health down into the red.

For me, the toughest in-game trainer is Wattson of Mauville City Gym. I was doing a similar restricted game as LeoReborn described, and for this one I had chosen Aron. His f***ing Magneton (pardon my French) whupped us at least 10 times before I finally wised up and trained Aron enough to evolve into Lairon, and even then we only beat him on pure luck.

I say Witney was very annoying.
You had to hope you would have FEMALE pokémon with you that couldn't be affected by attract. An miltank spamming milkdrink, that is quite hard to kill since it is pretty bulky. Knowing rollout which gets pretty powerful after a few times.

The nacrene city gym is quite hard if you don't take a fighting type pokemon with you. (would be if no one informed you that there are fighting-type catchable VERY close by...)

Koga was also pretty hard to beat in fire red since he has bulky poison pokémon. And you're kinda forced to take a psychic pokemon with you to beat him...

I live in America!  :) XD

I still say either Red, Cynthia, or N was the hardest trainers to beat. I'm not saying they were hard, just the hardest to beat.  :P

lol, that reminds me of when I got my butt kicked when I went to the Pokemon Leauge a second time in Pokemon White and all of a sudden, the Elite Four and Champion had level 75 and above Pokemon and I was taken by surprise and got my butt kicked on the first one! XD

Pidgey/Hoothoot vs Pidgey/Pidgeotto? No? ???

It was my first pkm play ever, i didn't know about types and stuff. My team at that time was chikorita, Bellsprout, a unleveled sentret and i think a caterpie. that super effective gust is still swirling in my head.

chikorita is the best starter in that game i think if u lost its not chikoritas fault and i think there is no excuse for losing to falkner because u can get a freaking onix or a donphan b4 fighting him anyway i always take falkner out with zubat
Title: Re: best in-game trainers
Post by: John Flame on October 18, 2011, 06:50:42 PM
Actually. The best starters in the Johto are Cindaquil and Tododile.

Chikorita get's a VERY rough start.Flying and bug,and then it needs to gain alot of firepower for Miltank.
It's stats are very balanced.Yes,if you can get past the rough start, and endure the blow at the 7th gym.Chikorita becomes a viable choice due to his hybrid stats.

But overall a newbie/casual player will be better of with a cindaquil or a totodile.

Yes,you can always catch other pokémon,as geodude or the traded onyx. But's it's just more reasuring to know you got a powerhouse backing your team.

lol i've started with them all and the first thing  i always do is train to a high lvl cyndaquill faints after about four fights and is very weak and learns smokescreen a useless move i believe totadile is a boss so i'll give u that but the bug trainer and flying trainer can both be taken out by a rock pokemon....and several others i just find it easy to play with chiko than the rest i've never beaten the game with cyndaquill and i hate all his forms they all suck to me he is a horrible fire starter the worst i've ever played with he's like a slightly stronger version of ninetales whom i always hated untill they gave him drought of course...i dont find cydaquill quillava or typhlosion usefull...that makes perfect sence to me jerry but honestly i think all of those starters suck compared to the others
