Title: Your most interesting facts about Pokémon.
Post by: Arcanine on June 24, 2010, 05:53:20 AM
Here's my few:

Wooper can learn Ice Punch, but has no arms.

Mr.Mime can be a female (It has Mister in it's name)

Ryhorn and Charizard have the same cry.

Here are a few of the ones I've noticed over time:

- If you get 4 stars on your trainer card in Gen IV, then the nurse at the Pokemon Center will start to refer to you by name.
- Water is the single most used type in the game, with 92 different Pokemon being water.
- Water has been paired with every time but two: ghost and fire.
- In Gen III, all fire type moves were Beauty Contest moves.
- Every Fire-type starter family has at least one member whose name begins with a C.
- All the grass type gym leaders have been female so far.
- Grass has been paired with every type that is super effective against it.

Wait... there is Lotad (and evos), Seedot (and evos), Lileep (and evo), Torterra, Celebi and Breloom.

They are water, dark, rock, ground, psychic and fighting which have been paired with grass type...

And to add to the list, Normal type has the least pairing: with water (Bibarel), Flying (many like these) and Psychic (Girafarig)

A combination of Normal/Ghost would be nice, immune to ghost, the only super effective move is dark.

That would be cool in a way, but that would make it a really strong type to have, you wouldnt really have that much of a weakness.

Yes, only Dark as I said, but then, Spiritomb and Sableye don't have weaknesses at all! (except if you use a fighting move after using Odor Sleuth or Foresight, which then takes 2 turns)

Or use kangaskhan, his ability 'scrappy' allows him to hit ghost types :D

Oh, but then, there's Miltank too.

In fact.. it's only now that I notice this ability. I guess I forgot it after it was introduced... and since no gen IV pokemon had it, I didn't see it much... or not at all

All pseudo-legendaries except for metagross have a double weakness to a single type.
You are never able to catch every pokemon from a single generation, with only a single game pack.
No 3D pokemon game has ever taken place in a region that has been played in a 2d game.
There has been at least one psychic legendary pokemon and one flying legendary pokemon in every main game.
Mew is the only non-gendered pokemon who can learn attract; AND it effects other pokemon that do not have a gender.
Every main game since crystal has had a battle tower.

I have a lot of these.

Shuckle can deal the most damage ever. Although the circumstances would be nearly impossible, using Rollout, a level 100 Shuckle can potentially deal the most damage in one single attack through the use of numerous stat boosters, by using Helping Hand, Metronome held item, Power Trick, a Skill Swap to Pure Power or Huge Power, and the Defense Curl/Rollout combo. Also, Shuckle's partner must have the ability Flower Gift and the weather must be sunny. On the 5th impact of Rollout, if used against a level 1 Ledyba or Yanma that have been hit with negative Defense modifiers (such as Screech), it can deal 213,896,052 damage with a critical hit.

Not that I'll not use Shuckle... too many conditions XD

I just copied and pasted this from http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Rollout , I didn't actually write all it out, but it still is interesting.

Togekiss is one of the most hard-to-hit Pokemon if used correctly. With the ability Serene Grace, effects on attacks have a 2x chance of being used. Paired with Air Slash (30% flinch chance) and paralysis, this can prove to be an annoying combo with a % chance the opponent will not move.

60% flinch chance comes first I'm assuming, then 30% from paralysis after that. I think 30% of 40% = 12% So that means there is a 72% chance that Togekiss' opponent will flinch or not be able to move from paralysis.

Doduo/Dodrio can fly
Diglett/Dugtrio can scratch/slash
Fire Fang can go through Wonder Guard, even if the Pokemon isn't weak to fire.

Flamethrower ligts them on fire, spacial rend puts a freaking PALKIA inside their body, steel wind slashes through their body with steel, rockslide and rock throw drop boulders on them, hydro pump hits them with enough pressure to shatter organs, a tail whip from a raquayza is like throwing a mountain at someone, and psychic is basically making the enemy go insane.
Will there be any further questions at this time, sir?

I'm new to the message boards so i won't post often.

Pokemon Facts:
Level 100 magikarp can be caught in pokemon platinum
Wobbuffet is the only non-legandery uber
Deoxys has the highest speed (in speed form) and the highest attack & special attack (in attack form)
Blisseys health can reach 714
Shuckle has the highest defence stats in the game
Shedninja can be knocked out by 1 round of passive damage
Burn lowers the attack stat, but the ability 'Guts' negates that effect
Arceus has the most total stats
Arecus is also the only flying type without a secondary type
Stone edge and sky uppercut can both hit pokemon in mid-flight
Bulbsaur is the only starter with a duel type
The moves Sacred fire and Flame wheel will thaw out a pokemon if they are used
Unown is the single worst pokemon in existance, because even magikarp learns tackle & flail and evolves to gyarados
The best type combination is dragon/fire and dragon/ground, because only empoleon & heatran resist the former, while only skamory & levitating bronzong resist the latter

Thx u, thx u, please reply and tell me if A) i'm wrong about anything or B) there is any more moves that hit a pokemon using fly!

Most of these are opinions, hardly any of these anybody really cares about, and technically, water/normal is the best type combination for attacks because only empoleon is completely resistant to it. Also, Unown actually has a decent special attack stat, and can be a viable sweeper if its stats are raised by baton passing with moves such as nasty plot and agility. Gust, Thunder, Twister, Whirlwind, Rockslide, and Bullet Punch also hit flying opponents, and lock-on and mind reader allow any move to hit a flying opponent. Garchomp and wynaut are also considered uber, according to smogon (http://www.smogon.com/). A duel is an engagement in combat between two individuals. Dual refers to a grouping of two things. Too many other spelling errors to count, by the way. Also, try to not use texting slang such as thx and btw. Try to use more thought in future posts, please.

Kangashkan Baby (the one in the pouhc) and Cubone could be the same Pokemon. The only difference is that Cubone has that skull.

I think I read somewhere that Cubone was originally supposed to be a baby Kangashkan wearing the skull off it's mother, but then the they decide not to do that creating the "Unkown" glitch.

You can actually Manipulate most of the Glitch, while some factors, (mostly negative) are random.

They both give you a Sh*tload of items in what I believe is your 6th item slot. One of them apparently evolves into kangeskan. MissingNo is much rarer, and is far more likely to glitch your game if your curious or stupid enough to catch one.
By the by, I caught one missingno and two M's. I never had a problem with my save file, but the game did freeze with the one fight with missingno. I also think that the old man with the weedle was a psychotic killer who follows you and attacks you as a missingno.

As mentioned before, Fighting/Ghost hits everything, so would be the best attacking type. However, Dark/Ghost has no weakness, so is arguably the best defensive type. Or it could be Steel/Psychic - when combined with Bronzongs ability it is left with only one weakness (or none with Levitate in the rain).

Away from opinion, Arceus is the only pokemon that could technically be the ??? type - it was coded into the games, probably to prevent crashing. However, there is obviously no ??? plate, so cannot become ??? within normal game mechanics.

Way to kill the wondering mood Jerry :P (yes, Jerry was right people). I thought about using dusknoir, but think about it. Moves like shadow punch or something arent all that strong, and i dont think dusknoir would be good for mixed battles. Doesnt it have low defenses or something too?

Just been reading over this and noticed someone raised the Kangaskan (probably didn't spell it right) and Cubone thing.

Originally, in Red and Blue, Cubone was meant to be Kangy's child, who had lost it's mother so it - being the weirdo it was, wore her skull. In the game, Marowak was meant to evolve into Kangy, but coding for that would take a whole day or two! :O So, Nintendo, being the lazy people they are just left the code... but it decided:
"chansey you, Nintendo. I'm going to be in this game. Whether you like it or not! RAWR!"
This code is known as MissingNo.

If you want to blame anyone for your games glitching up... BLAME MAROWAK FOR NOT EVOLVING.

More like UU, or Uber.
Not a legend.

I dont say uber because ubers ar based on their moves and stats. I say half-legend because legends are based on rarity and stats, but mew is mainly noticed because it can learn any TM/HM. Smeargle has terrible stats but it can learn any move, as stated before.

A second, ?????? maboroshi no Pokémon, literally "illusory Pokémon", refers to Pokémon seen so rarely, such as Mew, that some question their very existence. This term was translated in the Generation IV games as "mirage Pokémon", in reference to the various myths of Sinnoh... taken from http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Legendary_Pok%C3%A9mon#Mew_duo

Its called a legendary because it is so hard to find. Not because it can learn any move. By your logic, ditto should be legendary. It can turn into pretty much anything and therefore, learn any attack

To clarify: Dusknoir is one of the best defensive ghosts in the game. Both of his defensive stats are on par with Groudon and Kyogre, just as an example; they both sit at 135 Base. The only thing that he suffers from is low HP. Something that is easily taken care of with Substitute and Pain Split.

He also makes an amazing attacker. I've personally used most of his sets and can attest to their effectiveness.

Back on topic, Dusknoir is a ghostly cyclops. A Japanese one-eyed mountain-dwelling creature named the Yamawarawa may have been what inspired him.

In the time of pokemon, the names of handheld games have always been colors*/crystals reflecting those colors, aside from the pikachu edition. The consoles have never relected this for some stupid reason.

*I know there's at least one douchebag out there just WAITING to point out that black and white aren't colors. Black: It is a combonation of all the primary colors, and is thus, a secondary color. White: Well, what the hell do you want me to call it? A spacial anomaly? Piss of!
