Now is the voting part of the paperdoll competition. You are allowed one vote, I ask that you do not vote for yourself. I trust that most of you will follow this simple rule. Each entry will be listed below with the competitors name posted next to their name. Choose the name in the poll that corresponds with the name and entry that you wish to vote for. Good luck to everyone!
Note: do not vote for Zatir or Yuki. They are already on the team. We need votes to go to other entrants to prevent a tie for 3rd.

Just a thought, but is it really fair to have Yuki on the poll, even though she is on the team? If she wins, then wouldn't this be kind of pointless? I don't want to discourage people, I just have a concern.

Yea, even if she wins the top three under her will go to the next round. But she can still be in the competition.

This Sunday all votes will be tallied up. And the three top winners will go into a competition with each other. The winner of that will work with me and Yuki, mostly Yuki, in creating paperdoll art for Pokemon Universe.

Wanted to say congrats to everyone who entered, they all look great, and I bet a few of you never thought you could do something like that!
Glad to see so much participation, you should all be happy for what you've made and proud of your attempts, I tried to no avail, I couldn't even come close to those entries!

I almost forgot we had to vote. I don't know who to vote for. But the best qualities came from Genbor, Silver, Henkie, Zatir and Monzta in my opinion.
Amphi's is great too but I have the idea that it's actually a female. Not a male. And the contest mentioned this contest should be for MALE sprites only not female.

Well even though it's female, it's still very well done. I think the contest was with Male because that's pretty basic, don't really need skirts etc. Anyways I don't think it matters too much. Everyone did a great job, so well done all.

Yes, I agree Genbor. If it was supposed to be male, and the artist was able to transform it into female, i say good job. Gender manipulation in art usually is hard to do across genders.
(But for the sake of arguing, it's not necesssarily female, just a VERY successful drag queen fan of Lightning(?) from FF13 ;3)

There will be a female sprite as well. I'm just focusing on getting the terrain tiles complete so Kam can begin the level design of Miryus. The front and back views are complete, just need to get the time to get the side views done. Probably next week or this weekend. I've only been working 40 hours a week at work now, instead of 65; so I have a lot of spare time.

Yo all! I was a little fed up with tax and law and decided to do some animation to set those static puppets into motion where possible. genbor's is too... blurry to do anything worth it, though I did do a clearer one. I guess it lost its resolution when he shrunk the picture :( I have two of them in my p1cture.it gallery, though I doubt they were the final that genbor submitted here.
Otherwise, all frames are 175ms, all 'movement' frames are one pixel lower than the 'static' frame except the backsprite, where it's one pixel higher. (I did no edit whatsoever. So if you spot a mistake, it's in the original sprite :P). The sequence is static, second, static, third.
This also allows you to get a better judgement of the sprites :P

In Meowth's paperdolls, the movement of the one facing left, the hat/hair on it is a bit...buggy(?)

lol did anyone notice the one hair on Zatir's frontal design that is moving? I really like his hair design btw, the all brown outfit not so much though.

You're right! Just noticed it.
Also Monzta's left-facing doll, the top of the head moves but not the rest. Kinda looks like it's Pulsating/throbbing

Mhm, just a pointer that pixel art can be very hard as well, but don't give up! Now that you know what it takes, you can take the steps so that you don't make those mistakes :)

Well two staff members are leading. So that means, 3rd place is tied up. Keep voting guys, and if you can or read this before you vote, please vote for someone other than Zatir (Map Editor Developer), and Yuki (Pixel Artist). Their entries are beyond great, but they are already staff.

I'm really surprised nobody voted for nightshade but me. It was one of the few that looked almost natural when it moved, and I thought the hair showed some skill. Is it just me?

Sorry to break your dream but the hair is quite pillow shaded. That isn't really skill, that is going from dark shading to light shading starting at the outline. In this case it makes it look like the trainer has a green flame ignited on his head. If the shading was less pillow shaded and more shaded in a way that the hair looks spikier it would've been better. Next to that the frames of the backsprite show shoulders without outlines.
Now to wonder... Who voted for Firedarkguy. x)

Did mine just to see what I could do, but if I am wanted on the team I am willing, pixel art is fairly easy for me to do. And yes mine is a female haha. I wanted to be different... But most who know of me still, know I am like that.

Science class my freshman year in high school, we lit on fire 13 different elements. I remember these:
Copper - green flames
Magnesium - white flames
(Basically it's the fundamentals of fireworks)
