Okay, so it's great that everybody wants to chat again, but this has lead to lot of off topic posting. So I have decided to resurrect the long dead Chit Chat Thread for all your chatting needs!
Anyways, has anybody else been watching Twitch Plays Pokemon? It's strangely addictive...

It is a livestream with about 60,000 people playing pokemon.
Roloc, you're not alone. If I wanted to watch chaos, I would go to my parents house, which is guaranteed to be much more entertaining.
There is a much smaller version of it if you cannot take the chaos.
I hear they recently beat gold and are on pokemon emerald now!

People are able to make the main character move/take actions by entering (the arrows) up, down, left, right, A, B, start and select in a chat box.
Another feature of anarchy and democracy is added. When enough people type anarchy, the game changes to anarchy mode, which means that what people type happens in the order they type it. When enough people type democracy, there is some sort of voting system for what will happen in-game.

Twitch Plays Pokemon has been one of the funniest things I've seen. I still follow the reddit updater for crystal but, I don't watch as much as I did with red. The crystal playthrough seems to be going almost too smoothly. But, that's probably because they haven't released Feraligator (LazorGator) yet.

Yeah, this is true. The hypes pretty much died down now :( Though it has encouraged me to play Fire Red, something which I've never gotten round to before.

I love all of the old games but I just can't bring myself to play them anymore. r/d/y, g/s/c, r/s/e had the old ways of damage. (All fire attacks are special, all ghost attacks are physical, etc.) Makes them very annoying to play for a competitive player since it makes a lot of pokemon useless. Namely Gyarados. Only knows bounce as a stab move because all water attacks are special, even waterfall.
It does make Gengar a nice poke though, even if it can't use shadow ball because it's physical, it can however use the three elemental punches because all three are special attacks. And yeah I played the hg/ss remakes. I love em, but they don't have the "old" feel to them, ya know?

Sounds like you can't make your mind up about what you want in the game :P I'm just gutted that there was no Yellow remake, as it was the first game I owned. Plus Pikachu!

Twitch decided to play nice with my internet, so I decided to give it ago. I guess the run was going pretty smoothly up until we tried to battle Jasmin (this was last Saturday I think.), all of the Pokemon in our party except Feraligatr were under-leveled. We lost pretty quickly. Then "Feraligatr and democracy ruined this run" got spammed in the chat a million times. I would imagine they've made progress since then though.
Also, I think I saw Twitch Plays Mortal Kombat when I was looking for Twitch Plays Pokemon. I think I'm gonna check that out.

I have a question about the balance server. Is it possible to use six of the same Pokemon in a team? I want to make an extremely annoying Zubat team, but I'm not sure if it will let me. I don't think vanilla PO allows it.

No, that would put you in the banned tier.
V1 and V2 of PO are the same except that it has a different script because scripts from V1 don't work with V2.

That reminds me, how far has the balancing gotten? I stopped keeping up to date with that after I left.

All fully evolved pokes and some not fully evolved are all balanced up to gen 6. Some gen 6 are balanced too but not many.

Hey guys, it's good to see that the forums have gotten a little more active while I've been gone. Did I miss anything significant? I see that the dev team is giving the karma system another try, it should be interesting to see if people use it properly or not (I don't think there's a single forum I've seen that doesn't abuse the karma system though).
Also, my internet is fast now. Very fast.
I had a few similes to express just how fast it is, but I don't think the admins would appreciate me posting them on the forum. They were incredibly witty though. And by that I mean they would have lowered the IQ of everyone who read them by at least 10 points. Not that an IQ score is actually indicative of one's intelligence, but that's a different topic entirely.

How fast is your "fast" internet? Mbit/sec?

It's 10mbps, which is 1.25MB/s. There's faster speeds out there, but this is the fastest speed available out here. It's a hell of a lot faster than the 0.67mbps we were getting before. Our upload speed is only 50kb/s or so, but it was only 15 before.
You know what's really ridiculous though? CenturyTel was charging us $100 a month for our old internet speed and bundled phone stuff. We only have to pay $70 a month now.
On a semi-related topic, we're going to get Hulu and Netflix now that we have good internet. We're telling DirecTV that they can shove their satellite dish up their ass sideways.

150 up/down with no monthly download limits for 79 USD a month. It's a bundle with cable, internet and phone.
Nothing better then downloading something that's 1gig in less then 15 minutes. With our old internet it would have taken 2-3 hours.
Though I miss my college where we had T2 internet speed. Now THAT is speed.

If someone does a post that is helpful, funny, or just good in general. Bad karma is for abusive, trolling, and generally bad posts. Think of it like an incentive to be good.

Well, part of the reason for that is that he already had some before the karma system was taken down.

I will give out karma for each correct post, as it's supposed to work like that. And it would stimulate people to improve their behaviour and make the forum a nice place. *all up in the heavens and knows there is no perfect place*

I only give karma when I see some one being helpful to other members of the community.

I'm doing the same as Roloc. If I see a a post that helps another member of the community, a give them a karma point. At the same time, I'll take one away if I see someone trolling, insulting another member, or anything else of the sort. I'm pretty sure that's how it is meant to be used, though, so nothing special.

Basically a system where you can give/remove 1 point from a user's profile by clicking on the up/down arrows below the user's post count in a post.
So, you can just give/remove points from someone's points balance. For example, you could give or remove points based on how useful/helpful a post is.

I hope you don't have to wait much on the day of the test. Here, you have to like, come 1 hour before the time the test was fixed for and still wait for 2 hours before actually taking the test.

Theory test is done digital where I took it.
You're in the room examn with in front of you a control panel (covered so other people can't peek at your answers) and answer the questions in a short time. Afterwards, we were allowed to fetch our stuff from our lockers and come back directly. And all results were already printed out. Very fast system.
and I've already been practising quite some time with practical stuff. First in a car-simulator, and already done three lessons in an actual car

This is four guys playing a horribly translated version of Pokemon Crystal. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was translated from Japanese to Vietnamese, and then to English. The result is absolutely hilarious. The video is a bit long, and it kind of starts out a little slow. It gets better as they go. Episode 2 is even better.

If clear is transparent, then how can it be a color?

Clear is not a color, it's the antithesis of color.
Color is essentially the wavelengths of light that are absorbed and/or scattered by an object; colors vary depending on which wavelengths are absorbed or scattered.
Clear is the absence of optical density. A clear substance does not have any opacity, and it does not absorb or scatter light waves.
That's the tl;dr version; I highly recommend you read up on color and how we see it. It's quite interesting.

XD it's something I was thinking about at the store when a jar of nail polish said clear. Not clear coat, just the word clear, as if it was being advertised as a color. Made me think, are we as a species getting dumber by the day? Or are we being innovative by saying clear can indeed be a color? Gen three has always been my favorite, probably since it was my first game, so, I'm extremely hyped. Also, Roloc. I'm just glad for the online play, so everyone here will get to battle and what not.

Gengar will be able to use stab shadowball (Ghost was physical in gen 3)

Favorite books? Easy, Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle. It was when I read the first book, Eragon, that I first decided to get into writing and make it a career.

I'm pretty sure the ones about Bean were written after the Ender books. The Bean stories seem like they're better written, so I guess he just improved as a writer in the time between Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.
I like Ender's Shadow better than Ender's Game as well. Bean is just more interesting to me. Getting into Bean's head and seeing how his mind worked was a different experience than with Ender. I think it's a combination of how interesting it is to analyze him as a character, and Card improving.
I think that's the main thing that draws me to his books. Card lets you really get into the head of the characters and get a good idea of how they think, and then you're kept wondering how the character is going to react to new situations. He seems to really get into making the main characters. I haven't really read any other books that take it to the level he does.

WARNING SPOILERS
The whole cycle was a bit strange to me. Reading them it sorta seemed like Ender's Game was supposed to be a prequel to Speaker of The Dead, Xenocide, and Children of Mind. Also, personally, I think Children of the Mind was really strange.
The Ender's Shadow series dealt with real world problems, and what happened to these genius children. Of course they didn't get a happy ending, they were shoved into the military so their own countries could benefit. It also, in my opinion, had a darker story than Ender's Game and sequels. The first had its dark moments, but they were often restricted by the adults actions. When Ender realized he had murdered the child at home at the beginning of the book, and the squadron captain (can't remember his name) it was emotional, but the adults shoved it all off "because he had to save the world. Even in the end it was only brought up in courts because other nations were terrified the United States would have access to the mind that eliminated a whole race, not because they found him a monster.
The other three were more philosophical books than anything, but those dark moments I did like.
Shadow's pacing was brilliant. You could tell the changes all the characters, especially Bean and Petra, went through. You slowly saw his disease getting worse with no cure in sight. And in the end it was his children that got the cure, but after it was too late. This wasn't a fairy tale ending. Though, Petra and Peter getting together was a little less expected, but I'm just being picky.
Mini-rant over, I really did like all the books. Just found some complaints with them.

Badly written or awkward dialogue is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to books.

That sounds... awful. I'm like a mosquito magnet, they're drawn to me and their bites sometimes swell a little after they get me. I don't know if I would call it an allergic reaction, but I am, I guess you could say, more vulnerable too them.
Also, completely unrelated, but does anyone here play Hearthstone? It's a free to play CCG (collectible card game, since you technically don't trade with anyone) on both iPad and PC, for anyone who doesn't know. Although I'm new to the game, I'm quite enjoying my time with it, and was just wondering if anyone else had gotten into it as well.
And lastly, anyone play Watch Dogs yet? I'm considering picking it up since Batman was delayed, but I'd like some opinions first if anyone has played it.

So, I have worked out a deal with the mosquitos. So long as I leave a small portion of food scraps and blood, they will not bite me. I have learned their language, as well as customs. Apparently, today is their day of remembrance for their fallen. They sit in silence periodically throughout the day, only moving to feed.
On a side note, got my comp back. It is like brand new. :)

In other news have any of you opened a fortune cookie lately? They have gotten so ridiculous and are always positive. I bet the negative fortune cookies had to go due to some people complaining about a negative one coming true or something. What ever happened it is so stupid! These are the ones I got a few nights ago that I have not thrown away yet:

I know it has a grammar error ,but I like this one. It is not super positive ,and it is cryptic like I think fortune cookies should be.

On another note considering mosquitoes. There are plants being sold that have a similar scent to lemons often bought to repel them.
I rarely get my hands on a fortune cookie. But when I do, I eat them. And just read whatever's on the paper, shrug, and throw it away. I guess they gave more positive ones due to superstitious people spazzing out too much.

The 3ds XL is a skin we got off ebay to cover and protect Miss Wednesdays limited edition gold zelda 3ds XL, we then put a clear plastic case over that for even more protection. xD
We also got the limited edition zelda wii u. We just got the wii u today, but she has had her zelda 3ds for about 2 weeks now.
