Tell us the 6 pokemon you would place in your team if you could pick what ever you want (not including legendary) and why.
Mine is Absol, Snorlax, Salamence, Swampert, Infernape, and Gallade
1.Absol- My favorite pokemon
2.Snorlax- Ever since the first generation games I've had Snorlax in my party and he never disappoints
3.Salamence- You need some type of flying pokemon to fly you around and I feel this would be the strongest option
4.Swampert- I like the mixture of ground and water types in a pokemon
5.Blaziken- If you don't like this pick my Blaziken will kick you in the head...nuff said
6.Gallade- I've always had a soft spot for psychic pokemon but in the games they were only great if they were fully evolved and I was too inpatient
And It's a fairly balanced team...or at least I think it is.

Hmmm...
Gengar - Poison and Ghost types both have great attacks that make your opponent scream for mercy haha Gengar is the perfect blend.
Houndoom - Houndoom has excellent burst damage potential, and because he simply looks cool lol
Espeon - Great Special Attack and is a pretty balanced Pokemon. It doesnt suffer from low Defense like Alakazam.
Honchkrow - Great Stats, Can defend itself from Fighting Types even though its part Dark Type, and again...just looks cool lol
Exploud - I just like the idea of a Pokemon using sound as a weapon lol
Electivire - He has some good attacks that arent "obvious"

I'll could use a grass team.
1. venesaure - treeco - chickorita - tortwig (any grass starter)
2.Ludicolo - grass Water
3.cactune - grass dark
4.Tropius - Grass Flying
5.Cradily - grass Rock
6.Abomasnow - grass Ice
Fire badge was a chalenge but i passed it :D

Pikachu-greatest pokemon ever (SURFING PIKACHU)
Abra-gives you room to use the best psychic pokemon
Dratini-love the dragons
Umbreon-always wanted to use him
Squirtle-I love that little guy
Pidgey-I always carry him around

I would use:
1.Flygon-Great move type coverage with only two uncommon weaknesses
2.Slowking-Greatest pokemon ever
3.Kabutops-Strong and fast and awesome looking
4.Bayleef-I like it and it has good defenses
5.Steelix-Very Sturdy pokemon with the awesome steel type
6.Kecleon-Able to be any type

Not the most diverse team, but i'm a first gen player and you could complete that game with just a few moves on any pokemon...so:
1. Gengar - Obviously for shadow ball/sludge bomb, then psychic and thunderbolt to reap the rewards of his high spec att.
2. Lapras - Good defense, and nice to have surf and ice beam...maybe even psychic and thunderbolt again (why not?)
3. Dragonite - So many good TM's to stick on him, always immense
4. Aggron - Not 1st gen, but with pretty much any type attack possible, is good to stick out against a heavy physical attack hitter.
5. Rapidash/Arcanine/Ninetales - depends on my mood, whether I want elegance, aggression or cuteness...is it just me or did they really get fire pokemon just right in first gen?
6. Squirtle - wouldn't fight other pokemon, he'd just sit on my shoulder. And if I was doing really badly he'd be my backup cute pokemon, with big eyes, to persuade the enemy not to kill me...in the knowledge if they didnt take mercy he'd leap at them and bite their shins...he he

Typhlosion - Between being awesome for burst damage, and learning moves such as earthquake make him one of my favorites, plus hes just plain awesome.
Scyther - His quick moves make him perfect for finishing moves, plus hes and old fav of mine.
Mightyena - Just my fav. non legendary looking dog pokemon (tongue twister.)
Togepi - Don't under estimate it with its small size, with metronome and a few other attacks, it could own all.
Ditto - He can transform into any pokemon, so well your pretty well off no matter what
Lucario - I don't know if hes considered a legendary but, hes bad*** if you catch my drift so I had to add him.

I like how people are putting pokemon in their party thats not fully evolved(squirtle, bayleef, etc.)
It shows that they really like those pokemon and not just going for a power team

well here's mine ^ ^
Infernape: all time favorite Pokemon, fire/fight, can keep up with Blaziken in a fight(which any1 who has a Blaziken is my rival)
Ampharos: you can't deny the awesomeness of him, he just looks so harmless, but then here comes thunder
Azumarill: Mostly there for the cuteness factor, you always gotta have one
Houndoom: Dark/Fire who wouldn't like that ^ ^
Mightyena: pure and simple, he's wolf like and awesome, plus fire fang
Tyranitar: one of my classic favorites, and also my last ditch Pokemon, if I'm about to lose i send him out

Kingler - By far my favorite Pokemon as far as design and such goes. Plus Swords Dance + Crabhammer is a pretty lethal combo
Forretress - Spikes and rapid spin is nice, the double weakness to fire sucks but I just really like this Pokemon
Flygon - I like the whole Ground/Dragon thing
Blaziken - My favorite fully evolved starter
Umbreon - Who doesn't love Umbreon? Best Eeeveelution.
Raichu - He's pretty weak, but Substitute + Focus Punch works fairly well.
Also, I'd have Espeon, Swellow, Onix, Bellsprout, Glaceon and Haunter trained as well and switched around sometimes too, some of them aren't fully evolved but I like them too much to not use them. I really, really hope it's possible to get more than one Eevee in this game, it would be awesome to be able to catch them in the wild.

1. Charizard - It's a fire breathing dragon. Need I say any more?
2. Machamp - Nice fighting pokemon, can have moves of many types e.g. Lightning punch
3. Gengar - A lethal combination of sleep and dream eater
4. Dragonite - Can learn a variety of moves, pretty powerful
5. Gyrados - Pretty over used, but for good reason
6. Raichu - My favourite electric pokemon. :)
Note: This is my non-legendary team and I only use Gen 1 pokemon.

Assuming this is my fighting team (no hms), this is what I would choose
1. Quillava, I wouldn't evolve him cause he's more badass as Quilava ;)
2. Jolteon, My favorite Eevee evolution
3. Scizor, one of my favorite generation 1/2 pokemon. Plus the steel type is OP
4. Blastoise, He's got freakin cannons on his back, nuff said
5. Glaceon, He's just cool lookin. Get it? Cool?
6. Garchomp, My favorite pokemon from the DPT generation and a powerful guy to boot
I'd also switch out any of the other Eevee evolutions because... well they're powerful and some of the best looking pokemon imo.

Hmm.. I have different teams but the one I'm thinking of using in the beginning is:
1. Magnemite x2 - My favorite electric-type, part steel-type
3. Forretress - Powerful Pokemon - will learn the useful move called Toxic Spikes
4. Onix - Will eventually evolve to Steelix, a powerful steel-type
5. Scyther - Great attacks and looks cool :P
6. Koffing - Strong poison attacks. Evolves to one of my favorites, Weezing!

I'm tired of always saying why, so I put the real reason for having them on my team.

This is probably going to be my team, as you can see, I like Ghost, Dark, and Dragon types:
Charizard: Straight Ownage-Plus I need a flying type
Absol: Looks sweet, high attack, can be made into a super crit beast
Gengar: Ghostly..
Houndoom: Looks like a Hell hound
Dragonite: Original 3 evo dragon
Weaville: Because I said so..
For 3 vs. 3 I will use:
Kingler: It has good attack and defense and can be used to counter critical hitters and physical sweepers
Ability: Shell Armor-No criticals can hit it
Moves:
Brick Break
Crabhammer
Swagger
Dig
This can counter any electric types. Any dark sweepers like Absol can be beaten with Brick Break, while Pokemon can also be confused with Swagger. Crabhammer for the STAB and because it is a powerful move.
Working on the other two, but I will use a tank and a special attack sweeper because Sp. Attack sweepers are less prepared for than physical. :)

Exeggutor - i lik to nickname him Executer haha, but i feel no one realizes this grass/pyschics power. with chlorphil(sp?) as his ability ill give hm sunny day so he always attacks first, then ill get one turn solarbeams (i know OP), with pyschic and sleep powder i love Exeggutor i really do
lapras or starmie - i can pick yet but be for sure these two will wipe people out

Raichu - no one can say heis weak, ill wipe the floor with raichu

sigh, seriously... How can you know that? I´m one of the guys doing the balance on PU, and while Starmie will prolly be better on the attacking part, I will make sure that pokemon like Lapras have their uses to, so please try and refrain from giving pokemon advice based on the current state of the game.

This is PU forums, and I would assume anything that is not specifically directed to the original games (I dont see that in these posts anywhere) is directed towards PU, and I´m not offended, I´m just saying that if its about your PU team, then your statement might become incorrect :).
If however this team building is for the original games, then you are right, Starmie is the better choice.
And the forums is all about stating your own opinions, we are working to ensure that as many people as possible will be happy with the game that we are making, and we cant do that without community feedback.

I have no idea what team I'm gonna have, I'll let the game pick it for me. Anyways, Everyone has pretty much the EXACT team, at 90% has typhlosion, tyranitar and dragonite. If I wanna beat ya'll I'll just go google and make up a counterteam lol! XD

@draft92 I have none of those Pokemon, so I don't think you will be beating me with that counter-team of yours. :)
But I also agree with you. Lots of people are going with Salamence, Dragonite, Typhlosion, Tyranitar, etc.

6.Garchomp/Metagross Im still undecided on this. I think i should go with garchomp for flying but metagross is one of my favorite.

My team would be constantly changing. I honestly like far too many Pokemon to limit it to six.
Here's my current team on my run through of HG:
- Crobat
- Hariyama
- Feraligatr
- Arcanine
- Tauros
- Mareep ('twill not evolve, never so.)
Competitively in PU; well, I will have to test out the different combinations upon release. The complexity of the tree and ability system will define my playstyle and competitive team. However, I will most likely still try out some of my old favorites and see. Torterra, Infernape, and Dusknoir just to name three.

pretty balanced if you ask me. Scizor wasn't on there before but man, I got one earlier today in my SS and his growth is amazing (It was originally mine, its not the trade bonus so don't bother...)
Again because i cant have legendaries....you know what? no. I only miss a few, like giratina and rayquaza and latias and latios.

Alakazam and Dragonite, prettymuch the only pokemon I really like. I've had battles where my Venasaur,Charzard and Blastoise togeather beat one guy, but Alakazam beat 3. When this game comes out, probably just going to train those two.

Dragonair -> one of my favourite, can use a lot of elemental attacks and looks really awesome
Salamence -> favourite dragon pokemon, will use dragon attacks with him
Abra(Alakazam) -> my first choice abra, but alakazam because abra have no attacking moves :/, and alakazam is just overpowered with sp.att and speed + my favourite type is psyhic
Sableye -> eat rocks, awesome looks, little brat, no weakness, what else to say :P
Lucario -> must have some sort of steel and fighting pokemon, i would took all my efforts to learn him talk like meowth in anime
Kirlia(Gardevoir) -> said earlier adore psyhic pokemon + can see future + very cute

Lucario: My favorite types together, plus good speed and Sp. attack
Salamence: I don't really like Pokemon with double weaknesses, but i make an exception for him!
Metagross: Mainly because of his ability to kill poison types (my most feared type!) and his immunity to toxic!
Swampert: Because i like his type combination!
Infernape: Fast and Powerful, good blitz fighter!
Skaramory: Because he covers some of my double weaknesses.

Tyranitar- Another favorite of mine, I've always love him
Tsutarja/Janovy- i don't like its final evolution, so I'll only let him/her get to Janovy
Ampharos/Zeburaika- Simply awesome, i normally don't like horse like animal~~Phobia of them lol
Kecleon- I don't know why I like this one so much, just do I guess.
Flygon- Also a favorite of mine, reminds me kind of dragonite but not as ugly. :)

Let's see... I'd probably have Ninetales, Espion, Gyrados, Flygon, Meganium, and Ampharos.
My reasons all start with the fact that I like to have a diverse party. I HATE HATE HATE it when I'm up against something that I don't have a pokemon that can actually match up to it.
Moving onto my individual reasons...
Ninetales: Most badass Fire type there is in my opinion. Plus, it's pretty balanced in Attack and Defense.
Espion: My favorite, end of story.
Gyrados: In Red and Blue I was that kid that had about 3 Magicarp in my party not knowing that they completely sucked. When one actually evolved into Gyrados, I was so unbelievably excited that I never made a party without one. Plus, it completely OWNS.
Flygon: One of my favorite dragon types. I suppose that's because of the diversity of moves it can naturally learn. (I'm not a big fan of TMs unless they are absolutely necessary)
Meganium: First Grass type that I actually liked. There's not really any other reason for that...
Amphoros: I love the fact that it knows Signal Beam so I can have a bug type move without actually having a bug type pokemon in my party. (Bug types and I never really got along well...)
Well, I just realized that most of those reasons were stupid. Oh well, that's my dream party for you.

Togekiss Can be pretty mean, great sp atk and sp def.
Rampardos Brutal atk. Works well with Ninjask.
Ninjask Crucial with speed, can do the switch-a-roo with Rampardos. Fast and strong = brutal.
Magnezone Annoyance, good special atk. Mirror coat, reflect ect.
Dusknoir Tank, annoyance. Paralysis, burn, poison, sleep.
Gengar He's just mean; nothing else to be said.

Charizard- it's cheesy i know but he's my favorite
Crobat- cause patience breeds rewards. i mean zubat is terrible but crobat is one of the fastest in the game
Luxray- prolly my favorite electric pokemon ever created
Swampert- Water and ground, fantastic!
Gallade- the combo of fighting and psychic is just so interesting
Garchomp- cause he's the most awesome dragon in the game
also i'll prolly have a donphan (rapid spin is always useful), snorlax (come on hes a massive wall and rest with sleep talk is awesome), scizor (bug and steel nice got the benefits of bug with only one weakness to fire), and glaceon (i love the eevee evolutions and ice pokemon are always handy) in my box ready to go when needed
(the only pokemon i'll def always have on me are charizard and crobat.

It's not cheesy. Pretty much majority of the PU pop. prefers Charmander as a starter. I admit that charizard is epic, but i prefer grass types

But I also agree with you. Lots of people are going with Salamence, Dragonite, Typhlosion, Tyranitar, etc.

Aerodactyl-The fastest common lead. Able to set up stealth rocks and tuant other leads who try to set up.
Scizor-One of my favorite pokemon. With a choice band and technician, Scizor's bullet punch is able to OHKO or 2HKO almost anything that isn't resistant to it. U-turn makes it a perfect scout and can put a dent into most pokemon with its base 130 Atk stat. Its also pretty bulky and can take quite a few hits.
Jolteon-A very fast special sweeper. Jolteon is able to absorb electric attacks then retaliate with powerful T-bolts. It can use the move volt change whenever it needs to switch out of a threat or if it wants to scout. Jolteon also has moves like shadow ball hidden power grass/ice to give it near-perfect coverage.
Infernape-My favorite starter. Infernape is one of the best, if not the best, wall breakers in the game. It's fast and able to hit hard with its Fire/Fighting typing. It runs mixed sets very well thanks to its great Atk and Sp.Atk stats. Very little can switch into Infernape and still avoid being 2HKO'd. Its also one of the best users of Life Orb.
Gyarados-This thing is just a monster. I love using this thing as a tank. Gyarados is very bulky and hits like a truck after using dragon dance. Intimadate lets Gyarados come in on most physical attackers without any worry and set up.
Garchomp-The best non-legendary dragon type ever! Garchomp has an amazing Atk stat, great speed which lets it outspeed most other pokemon, and great typing in dragon/ground. After one sword dance, there is absolutely nothing other than Skarmory that can stand a combination of either outrage or earthquake. She is normally the power house of my team.

My team:
Altaria: it was always a woman of a pokemon to battle against Winona in RSE, but i held a deep admiration for it. Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace, Dragon Pulse and Sing.
Swampert: My all time favourite starter family, due to the amount of gym ass kickings you could hand out, also RSE. Earthquake, Muddy Water, Take Down and Ice Beam.
Abomosnow: Just a tough looking pokemon with an awesome type combination. Blizzard, Wood Hammer, Ingrain and Rock Slide (to deal with fire types)
Houndoom: I never liked Ninetales, and houndoom always seemed like the evil ninetales, Smoke to the fire. Crunch, Flamethrower, Sunny Day and Solar Beam.
Lucario: COME ON, it has spikes on its hands and chest. It is a fighting steel pokemon, how much more awesome can it get. Aura Sphere, Foresight, Brick Break and Metal Claw.
Haunter: It seems like more of a ghost pokemon than the other two in its family, Gengar looking more human like and Gastly being smoke. Haunter has a darker more defined look...and it has hands. Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Nightmare and Poison Jab.
Ulgamoth from black/white may come to replace houndoom

Marowak - Fave pokemon in the series. Always worked the hell out of it in the games moveset from my Silver game was Bone Club, Bonemerang, Fire Blast, Thunderpunch.
Bulbasaur - Fave starter not much of a fan of Ivysaur or Venusaur so never let it evolve. Move Set Leach Seed, Solar Beam, Razor Leaf, Vine Whip
Nidorino - Always liked the way it looked. A bad ass miniature rhino with a powerful double kick. Move Set Double Kick, Iron Tail, Horn Attack, Horn Drill.
Heracross - Just another one i liked from the way it looked. A nice Horn Beetle always made pokemon seem a bit real because of how much it resembled a real creature. Move set - Mega Horn, Take Down, Fury cutter, Rock smash
Dragonite - Awesome for the power. Always a late addition to my team due to when you could catch it which was a shame. Always useful to have such a versatile member of the team that could take out pretty much any thing. Moveset - Fly, Surf, Hyper Beam, Thunder.
suppose i need 1 newer pokemon in and theres only two of the newer ones that i like the look of Absol and Zangoose to have in my team id probably go with Absol.
Absol jst to update the team a bit with a newer one. Moveset (after looking at Bulbapedia) - Move set - Night Slash, Bite, Ice Beam, Flamethrower
Have a thing for Dragons so as a type team id stick with Dragon so apart from Marowak staying as being the ultimate fave the remaining 5 would be Dragonite, Charizard, Salamence, Kingdra Crimgan (Nice new addition for B/W). Alot more power in that team.

cool, nice to know that people are using my ideas... works great for boosting the hippowdon. i give my drifblim aftermath, that way if some one faints the pokemon i baton passed to, i can send him out and get free damage!
