Hello guys, I'm quite a well known member of PN so I though I'd light some information about it.

I don't think that they shut us down just for the domain. They did request us to transfer over the domain to them, but we are fighting to keep it as they have no rights to it.

Most of the graphics in Pokenet was custom made, we didn't claim rights to the Pokemon and didn't make any profit. In fact, we didn't even put up ads on our website/forums and didn't accept donations. It was completely free while the developers paid $80 a month for servers. Yet we still got shut down. >_<

The Pokenet community is still around and we are considering changing our content to something else.

Unfortunately, we weren't shut down due to violating copyright laws but rather trademark laws. We used custom made tiles for our maps and our trainer graphics were sprited by our members. We did use official pokemon sprites, but that didn't matter. The graphics didn't matter but we were using Nintendo's intellectual property (i.e Pokemon names, etc.). So, unfortunately, PU can still be shut down as all Pokemon MMORPGs are infringing on Nintendo's trademarks just by having Pokemon in their names. But hopefully Nintendo won't be shutting down all Pokemon MMORPGs.

Hello guys,

I'm unsure whether you guys are/were aware of another Pokemon MMORPG, Pokenet, which recently got a Cease and Desist order from Nintendo(More here). As such, most of the community is looking for alternatives for a Pokemon MMORPG. This does seem to be the most promising one yet and hopefully quite a lot of new members from PN will join once you have a public game.

In the mean time, I'm joining up to look around. I'm hoping this will turn out to its potential and fill the gap which Pokenet created. I'd be interested to see if anyone from Pokenet is here yet or not. I'll be reading over the concepts of this MMORPG for the next couple of days.
