Roleplay Corner / [OOCC and Profiles] For the Greater Good
« on: July 23, 2011, 07:46:03 pm »
Alright then, Jerry approved last night, so we can get going as soon as we get some more profiles.
Including myself, theres 3 people so far, and I amde this last night, so I'd have to say thats not too bad.
Main RP is here:
http://pokemon-universe.com/index.php/topic,3381.0.html

Whats going to happen is I will slowly draw out a map as events unfold to help the players visualise the area they are in.

Because I'm me, I'm going to help out both sides in-character, and therefore be neutral, in a neutral area.

Profiles that have been posted may begin, if you haven't been posted yet, thats because they're being posted in pairs and/or you were denied.

Username: Frenchfry
RP name: Chernobog
Faction: Temple of Black Light
Personality: Holier-than-thou, with a superiority complex. Talks like a King from the fourteen hundreds.
Bio: Chernobog means Black God. As far as Chernobog is concerned, he is the rightful dictator of humanity. This particular belief stems from a complex rooted in his childhood. His father never loved him. Oh well.
That aside, his born leadership and close quarters combat finesse have placed him at the right hand of the Minister of the Temple of Black Light. He is also somewhat deluded in that he behaves and dresses like a Dark Knight, despite his presence in the modern era.

RP name: Joseph Abernathy
Faction: The Government
Personality: Manipulative, deceitful, will do anything to get the job done.
Bio: Joseph has been a government agent for many years now. When the Temple of Black Light appeared he thought it was a joke and that is posed no real threat. But when they threatened to blow up an entire mall he was first on the scene.

Username: Aka-Kami
RP name: Ruby
Faction: Temple of the Black Light
Personality: She's tough, a little tomboyish and will not take insults lightly
Bio: Ruby's life was going all well until the new laws of the government. Her family was oppressed, and she wanted to make a difference. She then fled and joined the cult of Temple of the Black Light.

Username: LittlePony
RP name: Bastion Curtis
Faction: Government
Personality: He can be a tad sarcastic but he is usually serious. He can occasionally be blunt and straight forward.
Bio: He is a trained profiler, but does not always get things right. He is very educated as he has a law degree. His mother was murdered nine months after he turned fifteen. He identified the killer five years later. That is when he has gotten interested in profiling. His father is a rich man that he has only seen three times. His father sends him money, and his son is expected to inherit his one hundred million.

Other Roleplay / [RP] For the Greater Good
« on: July 23, 2011, 05:37:06 am »
chansey frenchfry whining for me to make an RP. So here:

A new law has been passed at a global level. All issues involving goverment, parliament, or politics in general, must have completely secular views, banning religion from having any influence on a country.

The religions of the world combined under a single god to rebel against this, to retake religion as the main source of goverment power; Temple of the Black Light.
Since then, the hierarchy of the Temple has been working from the underground, managing and planning to regain control.

The goverment disregarded the Temple as a meaningless threat, and moved on to different matters.
Deciding that they refused to be taken lightly, the followers of the Black Light took it upon themselves to have themselves be noticed again, aquiring explosives, and driving them under a shopping mall on a busy saturday morning.

The RP will begin minutes before the this event, with the detonator in hand of the(self proclaimed)Grand Imperial Monarch of the Temple of the Black Light.
Each RP'er will choose a faction; the goverment, who is attempting to enforce the laws that have been given, or the Temple of the Black Light, a rebel group of guerilla freedom fighters, people who believe they are being opressed under a totalitarian rule.

Skeletons are as follows:

RP name"

PM me with your applications, I'll try to have an even number on both sides, so I'll probably post them in pairs.

Story:

5 years ago, there was a terrible storm. All of the villagers fought against the avalanche that came from Mt. Aleph to the North.
A giant boulder fell, crushing half of the town of Vale. Killing most of your community.
After the accident, you dedicated your life to the research of Psynergy to learn the secrets of Alchemy. Practicing hard to learn the basics of the art, you begin to advance in the field of psynergy. Learning that the storm was no mere accident, you and a group of your friends decide to head into Mt Aleph to learn of why the events occured 5 years ago.

Class system:

This is just the character building system for now, the storyline will come later.

You are an Adept. A person who can utilize their mind to bend the elements to your will.
Each adept is associated with a planet, each planet has an element.

Mercury=Water

Venus=Earth

Mars=Fire

Jupiter=Wind

Each adept can manipulate these elements, which they call "Psynergy".
Each psynergy correlates to a planet, and again to an element.
Each character also has a fighting style, which are Warrior, and Mage.
Each have its own specialization for weapons.

Weapons

Earth Warrior: Longsword, Light Blade, Axe, Mace
Earth Mage: Light Blade, Staves

Fire Warrior: Longsword, Light Blade, Axe, Mace
Fire Mage: Light Blade, Staves

Wind Warrior: Claws, Light Blades
Wind Mage: Light Blade, Staves, Bows

Water Warrior: Longsword, Light Blade, Axe, Mace
Water Mage: Mace, Staves

Each class will have access to "utility psynergy" which can be used outside of battle, some can also be used during battle. Because utility psynergy is important, even though most utility psynergy can be figured out by looking at the name, ill explain them now. Many utility psynergy will not be avilable until the appropriate level of experience.

One might ask, "Some of this stuff our combat psynergy can do" and to you I say, you're character is fairly new to the Adept game, and therfore does not have complete control over his element's psynergy yet, there will be npc's in this RP that will teach you control, and therfore you will learn the psynergies below if you do not already.

Healing psynergy can be used outside of battle, but I found it redundant.

Depending on what element and fighting style you choose, you will be assigned a class.
Earth
Warrior: Squire class
Mage: Shrine Maiden class

Fire
Warrior: Guard Class
Mage: Fire Seer Class

Wind
Warrior: Beastling Class
Mage: Wind Seer Class

Water
Warrior: Mariner class
Mage: Water Seer class

Level up system
Each class, after a number of levels, gets a class upgrade.
For example, lets take a look at the squire class:
Squire
   \/
Knight
   \/
Gallant
   \/
Lord
   \/
Slayer

There are items in the world that one can find to change their character to a unique class.
There are also hidden classes that are assigned when one collects enough djinn of the right element.

Here is a chart for ALL classes.

Djinn
Djinn are scattered throughout the world, exactly 18 for each element. You can only hold a maximum of 9 djinn to yourself, and you can only hold as many djinn as the person with the least number of djinn in your party +1. For example, there are 4 (which there will be, we have enough) people in your party, 3 of them have 2 djinn, but the fourth only has one. The next djinn found must be given to the player with only one djinn. Afterwards, djinn are free game for whoever ifnds them.

Collecting djinn will boost your class if they are the same element as your character, as well as change it if you are not.

For example, a Squire class adept equips a mars djinn, that character is now a combination of fire and earth adept, they become a Brute class, and recieve access to some of both Fire and Earth Psynergy.

Of course, splitting yourself away from your home element will leave your character weaker than what they could be at that level if they remained specialized, but they now have access to a greater pool of psynergy. Mix and Match djinn to find a combination you like.

Djinn behaviour can be categorized in 3 ways; Set, Standby, and recover.

When a djinn is set, its elemental abilities affect the owner, boosting their current class or changing it, as well as permanently buffing them until their behaviour is changed. One can use a djinns ability on an enemy, and by doing this, it puts them in Standby.

For example, using the Venus Djinn "Flint" will cause you attack and do x2 damage for the turn.
When a djinn is in Standby, the player gets no equip bonus, and their class does not change. But, you will have access to summons.
The entire party can share djinn when in standby, and so, anyone can use any summon provided enough djinn are in standby mode. It is reccomened that you use summons in correlation to your element to do extra damage.

Summons utilize the power of the djinn for powerful spells that can exceed even the most powerful psynergy. When used, they put the djinn that were called into recovery. Recovery is the behaviour a djinn enters after a summon is used, each djinn will leave the recovery state, and switch into the set state when their "Recovery timer" equals zero.

Recovery timer exists so that your djinn arent sent into set at the same time.
For every djinn that is used in a summon, the recovery timer will increase by one for each corresponding djinn.

Example: you summon Ramses, which costs 2 Venus Djinn. Those djinn will enter recovery, one will have their recovery timer to be 1, while the other will be 2. These decrease over time, as the battle progressesm as well as travelling outside of battle.

This gives you a basic understanding of the class system. If you have any questions regarding the class system, utility psynergy, or djinn, please join me in the #LiveRP channel before Game Day and I'll be happy to explain if im present. Wailord, Frenchfry, and Jerry will also be able to explain.

Wailord and I were thinking about making an RP for IRC. We would make our characters prior over the course of the week, and then when the weekend came around, we could all play it out when timezones don't really matter.

These sessions would take place until the RP finishes (which it will, as I have already have a set goal for the RP to progress towards), and then we can start again.

Art Work / Silver's Banner thread.
« on: April 04, 2011, 04:25:42 am »
Ok screw it. I'll make a banner thread. I have a little more experience in the computer graphics field than the other guys, but I take longer cause I have better things to do than this. Thats the trade off, if you don't like it, go to someone elses banner thread.

And by longer, I mean like, maximum two a week, if for some reason I feel like doing alot of this stuff.

To speed things up, I have gotten Frenchfry and Swuish to help out a bit.

Anyways: Here's a skeleton:

Name:
Background:
Foreground:
Other notes:

Optional (But it'll take longer):
Foreground colors:
Background colors:

I have the ability to deny the request if I don't want to make it. Also known as if you give me something to do with Bleach or Naruto. Exceptions are possible, again if I feel like it.

Ok, kiddies, since you all seem to love your Naruto and Bleach, I decided to make a Dragonball Z thread.

Yay Dragonball Z, where the dubs are acceptable, the fights take up 20 episodes, and its filled with filler, and I'll still take this over those other 2 animes.

Honestly though, if you want a good laugh, take a look at dragonball Z abridged over at Team Four Star. Its a fun, well thought out comedy taking the scenes from the original anime, and revoicing it over, for those who don't know what an abridged series is.

PS: frenchfry, what does the scouter say about your post count?

What if you could play a 3D space combat RTS where your units were real players?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_285/8452-The-Greatest-Game-Never-Played

It exists.

Its got the learning curve of an 85 degree slope, but I feel it is necessary to get this game's name out there. I needs to be heard of. This is something that the gaming industry needs right now; a genre and playing style that has been next to forgotten.

I myself am learning to play, and I hope I see the rest of you trying the same. Put your thoughts of this game into this thread, and if you're like me, and wish to play, go to http://www.freeallegiance.org/ and download this game, and leave your callsign here.

Everyone knows about the Spiritomb/Sableye/wonder guards, but what pokemon do you find to have very few weaknesses, but at the same time, useful enough to use in your party?

Like a kingdra or a scizor, for example; only one weakness to a single type, but also have above average base stats to back them up.

Have you found anything similar to these?

Trainers Lounge / Evolution stones.

I've always hated never having enough stones to evolve everything.
Will we be able to buy stones? Or will they be some sort of reward?

Oh, and a forum discussion question:

Do you bother with a pokemon even if you can't fully evolve it because of a lack of a stone/lack of people to trade with?
