This week I'll set up a little thread showing the paperdoll slots (Head/Mask, Chest, Leggings/Shoes, ETC.) Also with a small tutorial explaining how to choose a palette for what you are doing. The only thing I ask, is that the paperdoll have a black outline around it's body. This allows for the character and NPC to show up much better on the tileset.

All entries are great. You gotta think, these guys just started to do pixel art. They're not gonna have the techniques to make pixel art like me and Yuki. Considering we've developed these skills and techniques through the years. I'm simply looking for someone that'll go out of the box, to create something original and still have the look of what it represents.

The techniques and skills will be tought during the training process. But it is good to see people with these traits already, but not required.

Development / Re: PU ToDo List
« on: July 02, 2012, 04:15:54 AM »
List has been updated.

Rocks, and Flowers have been completed. Larger ones will be completed in the future.

20 tiles added to Dropbox on, July 1, 2012.

Total Tiles: 220

NOTE: I have began the outline of the buildings, then will move to color and shading. I am currently working on a bush, as well. I am getting a few scrubs for the environment. Here are a few other things I have been working on.

This is a Chat example, it shows how the text will look and other icons in-game. This shows a few emotes, as well as the quest giving emblems.

A mock-up of where I think players names show up in-game.

Possible in-game sign. When you read a sign, or billboard, this will pop up in the middle of your screen, displaying what the sign or billboard says.

Also, on another note, I need someone to get with me and get me familiar with the first town. Just PM me. Thanks.

Mapping / Re: Expanding the map editor
« on: June 30, 2012, 03:28:25 AM »
@Bryan, you can use the editor which is stored at our dropbox (PokeEditor_3_2_1_0.zip) already with the new tiles. You just have to open up the editor and set the folder where your tiles are stored. You have to ask Mr_Dark to create an account for the mapping-server first if you don't have one yet, so you can make a test-map. As said before I have a few busy days right now, till this weekend. I hope i can work on the editor this Saturday. And this monday I'm going on a holiday for 8 days to Greece, so then I won't be able to work on it. So after I get back the 10th of July I will be up and running to get that editor as far as finished in the next few weeks.

I'll get it all figured out. I just need to test a few tiles and make sure they match up at certain points; a lot easier to do with an editor than in paint. But I am finishing up a few tiles. Hopefully in a couple weeks I can start getting outside buildings going. We'll see.

Right now were trying to get environment things done first. Then buildings, then I'll be posting a lot more mock-ups. Then Kam will be making actual levels for Pokemon Universe. It's still coming together, just slowly. I'm a 24 year old male that has a life, and this is a hobby. As they've stated before, we need a few more skilled pixel artists that can match the current art style.

As soon as I get some more tiles down, I'll put up a few mock-ups. Here's an old one, same tiles we'll be using.

With Amphi taking leave in the competition, I have spiced thing up by giving Gembor a second chance. He has officially taken over Amphi spot in the competition.

Updated the to-do list. I will update the post, and post a reply stating what has been done, and the current total tiles completed. If your interested in joining the Pixel Art Team, then you need to send examples of your work via forum PM. If I like your work, then I'll give you a small application for you to fill out and complete. Thank you.

Also Zatir, if you could, can you implement the current 200 tiles that are uploaded in the drop box. And let me know when you got a useable version. I need it, as well, to make sure other tiles work, as well as, adding and changing old ones. Thanks in advance.

Okay, before anything I'd like to let everyone know. Genbor has replaced Amphi in the competition. Now here are the entries. Please vote on quality, how well they stuck to the description, and originality. Good luck to all.

Genbor - Emo Kid

Monzta - King

Lubbies - Roman Cosplayer

I apologize for th long wait. I've just been real busy. Enough apologizes, let's get this started.

With the previous round, one person has been eliminated.  It was a close call and only lost by one vote; but sorry, Genbor...you have been eliminated with 7 votes. I personally enjoyed your bug catcher paperdoll., good job Genbor!

Now on to the next challenge for our remaining competitors. Amphi, Lubbies, and Monzta here is your next challenge. Each competitor will be given a description of a random character. Your goal is to create a paperdoll the best you can with the description. I will post each description and the competitors name above it. You have til Saturday to have your entry in and polished. Here are the description and who will be doing what.

Amphi
Emo Kid
The emotional poet. These people love the colors black and purple, especially in a striped pattern. Their skin is usually pale, with some black eyeliner. Don't get them confused with a goth, as they stray away from tattoos and piercings. The hair is of no importance, as it can be in any style, base color black with dark colored highlights.

Monzta
King
Wannabe royalty, they wear a gold crown on their head, adorned with jewels. They take the royal look to such an extreme that they even wear the long cape with their purple or red clothes. Kings will usually have the kingly beard, well groomed and pointed in three directions, while the queen's face has a heavy amount of makeup. Royal scepters are not a big requirement, but can be set on the side, also gold with a few jewels. Make it as royal looking as possible.

Lubbies
Roman Cosplayer
This person loves Ancient Rome, and everything about it. They wear armor resembling the Trojans, which is gold with brown trim wear the leather is, and red for the brush on top. They tend to be on the muscular side, especially in the arm and chest areas. They wear symbols on their back, and since this is pokemon, what better than a pokeball symbol. To make themselves look tougher, they grow out their beards in a goatee kind of way.

Thanks to Cortex J. For the descriptions. Good luck to all, enjoy. Voting will start Sunday.
