Wow, I'm really glad I randomly decided to check in today...

I haven't made a post since about 2014, but I've kind of been lurking on the forums for a while now. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew the game wasn't being worked on anymore, but I was still so attached to this community. I joined this site when I was 12 back in 2009, almost 7 years ago now. It's shaped a lot about me, from writing style to social demeanor. It's really weird thinking back to where I was when I first started coming here. I even went back and found my introduction post from after the V2 update.

Hey everyone! I'm Darkmage64. I also joined a little before the website's V2. I can't wait to play the game in 2010! By the way, If anyone knows where I can get POKEMON pictures for my profile, send me a private message, or post it here for other people to see.

I was so young and naive. I cringe every time. I can't believe I was even here before the V2 update. Most users probably don't even know what that means.

Speaking of V2, so much has happened to me over the course of joining this site. I started PC gaming primarily, moved once or twice, dealt with some crazy friend drama, became WAY more open-minded, found out I was gay (if only little homophobic 12 year old Darkmage95 knew it back then), made some amazing new friends...Just looking at that PU logo can really take me back.

RPs were an adventure here. I don't think we ever managed to finish a single one, but damn if they weren't the highlight of my day. Not to mention they've really taught me a lot about my writing process. They were an invaluable gift during a difficult time in my life (despite some of the drama that I sometimes caused surrounding them...).

And oh man, was the IRC an experience...I still miss it from time to time.

Despite having been here for so long, I still feel as though I barely know a lot of you. We've had conversations, played games, and duked it out on the balance server (#TeamBulbasaurForever), but it feels like everyone's got so much more to them that I just never got the chance to learn about. A large part of that is my fault for not taking the initiative to talk to people (and because I was kind of an asshole). Even so, if and when this website disappears, I'll have fond memories of it.

I'm 18 now, trying to get my act together in college and figure out what I wanna do with this crazy thing called "a life". I'm in the midst of trying to set up a YouTube channel for game reviews, so I guess we'll see how that turns out. I still see a couple of you now and then on other platforms like steam, but I've been too hesitant to talk to anyone. I guess this is your invitation to strike up a conversation if you ever see me.

Considering this post was made a couple days ago and people seem to be saying goodbye, I don't know how many of you will see this, but at the very least, this was really cathartic for me. Probably something I needed today.

Though I've known some of you for nearly seven years now, I believe I have yet to even tell any of you my first name (unless you've gone digging for it). My name's Jordan. It was nice talking to you these past few years. Maybe I'll see you around sometime.

Other Games / Re: Etrian Odysessy series
« on: December 14, 2013, 03:22:00 AM »
My friend has Etrian Odyssey 4, but I've never played it myself, so I don't know that much about it.

I DO however have The Millennium Girl, and I can tell you what I know about it.

The Millennium Girl is literally the same game as the first Etrian Odyssey, the only notable differences being the updated graphics and the added storyline. The added storyline doesn't really add much to the game, but it does flesh out the world a little more and makes your party members more than just another set of health bars. The story is kind of lackluster though, as it plays on the old tropes of "mysterious person found in ruins has amnesia" and "mysterious tremors that nobody knows the source of but the player knows it's some kind of demonic monster". If you're playing for an interesting and engaging story, you'll probably want to pick up a different game. If you like the gameplay but want to forego the storyline, you can play a "classic" mode in which you get to pick from all of the classes in the game. The story mode restricts which characters are available to you while also giving you two story mode exclusive classes, so be wary of that. The game is kind of interesting in that, as you've probably seen in the demo, it's a turn-based RPG dungeon explorer that requires that you draw your own map. This can be a really tedious process for some, while also being a minor source of entertainment for others, as there are quite often secrets found on each floor that you can return to later on. In addition, if you map the area with enough accuracy, you gain the ability to skip past the floor the next time you enter the dungeon. The point of the game is essentially to venture as deep as possible into a multi-level forest in an effort to solve the mysteries of the girl you find in the ruins and find the source of the odd tremors. As far as turn-based RPGs go, I'm kind of conflicted about this one. Having to draw out an entire map as you explore rapidly alternates between getting boring after drawing wall-after-wall-after-wall and becoming entertaining from leaving notes for yourself in order to remember specific locations. The game starts to feel repetitive not long after you start and doesn't seem to pick up until you start fighting lots of FOEs in a row, but instances in which there are more than two or three on a specific floor are somewhat rare. To be honest, I think the only reason I played it for as long as I did was because of how the game impressed me with it's integrity; there really aren't a lot of games like it that I've played. However, I don't think it would be the kind of thing I'd recommend to people outside of those looking into game design. But that's just my opinion. If some of the things I've described seem of interest to you, go ahead and get the full game.

My profile was accepted and I can join in at any time, but...I don't really think I'm going to. I REALLY don't mean to sound rude when I say this, but I haven't really been very impressed with the RP thus far for a couple of reasons. If I saw those things start to change, then I'd consider joining, but it's not looking very probable at the moment.

HELP
Appearance: Ashton has a heart-shaped face, with flat cheekbones and a sharp chin. His downturned eyes are an clouded hazel, hiding a gleam of knowledge behind their relaxed gaze. An aquiline nose rests above his thin lips, giving him a laid back look. Raven black hair, kept thin due to his Mother's insistence, hangs straight down into an angular cut at his jaw. The carefree features of Ashton's face are merely a reflection of his entire body structure, and everything-always in his pocket arms to his constant half-grin-reeked of a relaxed manner. He walks in evenly paced strides, his back straight and his face darting inconspicuously from left to right, observing everything, eyes hidden by the rim of his red and white ball cap.

Criticize that. Must get better. Do it.

Ashton has sharp facial features with a pointed jaw, downturned, hazel eyes and straight, jet-black hair. His aloof posture and carefree expression accurately reflect his personality.

That's pretty much all that needs to be said about his facial features. I'd probably go on to talk about how he dresses and any other important details about his appearance. I also changed "raven black" for "jet black" because I thought it sounded better. Also, the part that I highlighted seems to go against your initial description, so I might take that part out.

Cortex, if you were lonely, you could have just said so. :P

One thing I've been meaning to ask about was Pokemon X and Y, specifically about starters. What starter combinations (Kalos and Kanto) are you gonna go with and why?

I was thinking about going with either Froakie and Charmander or Fennekin and Bulbasaur. I'm not really sold on Chespin, and probably won't unless the final evolution is cool enough. I also already have a Blastoise that I've had since LeafGreen and don't see the point in getting another Squirtle. Though I also have a Charizard from LeafGreen, so I might go with Fennekin and Bulbasaur...

Would there be the possibility for me to wait for the RP to actually start for me to decide whether or not I would want to join? Or will we fill up on profiles by the time it actually gets started?

Ahh, Poisoned Utopia...

To be honest, I've kind of fallen out of RPing on this site, but I'll seriously consider joining this one. I might try to wait for it to get started and see how it's turning out before I jump in. I don't want to start becoming relevant and then just decide to stop because it'll just become a big mess for everyone involved...

But I'll definitely be reading along, either way.
