If you want to make tiles, they need to be 48*48 pixels.

What I want is advice, I want to do pixel art and all you are doing is discouraging me. Please restrain from being a smartass, and that goes pleasantly to all of you. Also note I never used Gimp or any program for that matter for art. Heck I don't know much about pixel art. Seriously MP is the only person that is actually giving me a good example. ... I never got that problem with computers of my friends where I installed GIMP, so I don't think that I could help you in any way.
I just downloaded, and installed it.
