Site Support / First post in Threads
« on: January 28, 2010, 05:05:09 pm »
I was wondering if it was not too much asked to make each first post in every thread appear in each and every other pages. There has been numerous cases where newbies complained about not reading the first post and making that feature (make first post appear on every page of a thread) will deter some of them already, from using that excuse.

Ideas & Suggestions / What about some boats/ships?
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:13:26 pm »
Since the very first Pokemon game, RBY, there was a ship, and there, it was the S.S. Anne.

I wonder if you're going to include one, or more in the game. You said that the region will have islands, and as such, why not having some ships linking some islands.

I know there is the 'wingull express' (I don't know how it'll be called), but for a slower trip, and possible PvE and PvP battle within the ship will be quite fun. After, say 30 minutes game time, the ship will arrive at destination and will go the next game day.

What about it? ::)

In-Forum Games / [Game] Some 'unanimated' battle
« on: January 24, 2010, 04:38:38 pm »
I don't know if this thread will go far, but I'll give it a try.

Ok, the rules!
- You choose one pokemon at a time, no switching.

- You keep that pokemon, until it faints (you choose when your pokemon faints, but be reasonable. In case your keep your pokemon alive for too long time, other players can make requests for the user to declare his/her pokemon fainted, and the player will have to do it.)

- You can have only 4 moves (duh), but not need to say all moves. That leaves the freedom to choose any move that is learnable by the chosen pokemon when your pokemon is in difficulty. But you cannot change your move if you already played it.

For example, I have a bulbasaur and I do vine whip. I won't say the other moves now. I can choose the other moves later on, depending on the situation. Now, say I used poison powder, tackle and growl some time. That completes the moveset and I cannot say for example, bulbasaur has razor leaf.

- No items are allowed.

  Update 26 Jan:
  - If you want to include damage calculation, feel free to use the formula from here(http://www.serebii.net/games/damage.shtml)

If you is that, take the random number as 100.

  Update 9 Mar:
  - Do not use the same pokemon again so that the battle doesn't get boring
  - Evolving pokemon within battles are no no. You can use their evolved forms though, separately.

Okay, I'll start.

I send out Gligar.

Game Features / Gym Leaders and their pokemon levels
« on: January 22, 2010, 08:09:33 pm »
Ok, I was wondering, since the game will not be linear, how are you, designers are going to cope with the gym leaders, concerning their pokemon level.

If the game is non linear, that means that each gym leader will have to be as strong as any other gym leader.

Or, you'll perhaps make the system as being: the gym leaders will have increasing levels, yes, but according to the number of badges you already have.

The latter then triggers a question. If a gym leader becomes stronger, (s)he will have to have more pokemon (not necessarily though), higher level pokemon with perhaps different movesets, perhaps evolved pokemon too.

Therefore, there might be one 'easier' gym leader than any other to start with, or a gym leader who is much tougher than the rest at a given level and is best to challenge earlier, with weaker teams.

Game Features / Photographs in the game?
« on: January 16, 2010, 05:31:03 pm »
My last thread about the save system lead to legendaries, which then made me ask myself.

Why not introduce photographs like in HGSS, or enable your character to take pictures (with poses, etc)? Then, you can hang some nice  pictures in your house, or 'guild' (which has not been confirmed yet).

Some pictures with the legendaries that you saw while doing quests will be inscribed in your memory.

Perhaps that will also go with the level of the trainer. The higher, the more photos (s)he can produce.

Ideas & Suggestions / Game mechanics like in Pokemon RPG?
« on: January 16, 2010, 03:31:13 pm »
Ok, another of my questions.

I saw somewhere (in the Daycare thread), Mr_Dark posted something and mentioned about IVs and EVs. So, I'm guessing that PU will be including these 'background stats'?

Meaning, looking for the pokemon with the best IVs, taking a lot of time and patience.

Ideas & Suggestions / Saving like in the traditional RPG Pokemon Games?
« on: January 16, 2010, 03:17:35 pm »
One of the questions I have for the moment is: Will saving be the same as in the Pokemon Games?

Case example:
I enter a gym, save before battling (I know that may sound stupid). If I forget to save after battling, will that take me to the point I saved, or will there be a sort of 'auto-save' in the game?

Most of the time we use the soft reset facility is before encountering a legendary in the Pokemon Games. If you decide to make them 'catchable', will saving help to catch them, in case they faint during the battle?

Thanks!

New Trainers / Welcome / Hello from Mauritius!
« on: January 14, 2010, 03:16:33 pm »
Hello there! I'm a student form Mauritius who's been a big fan of Pokemon since... well, since  I came accross it in 1997... wow, 13 years already!

I've played Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal (that one could save the file  :)), Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald (that was an awesome version!), Pearl, Platinum and Soul Silver (the last two... too much for words :P)

I'm new to the site here and I think that it's a very good idea, the online MMORPG! Finally, I'll be able to meet online trainers! I don't have a livebox at home... so no WI FI :-\

I hope I'll be able to get some friends here and be able to raise one of the teams of my dreams!

Since I'm new, I would like to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :)

I'm so excited and I'm impatient that the game will be released soon!

I'd like to thank my friend Loic, without whom, I would have never discovered this site, and everyone reading this post, wishing all of you good luck when the game will be on! :) I will try to be a good rival ;)

Yours,
Jerry
