Pokedex Entries / Re: [Pokedex Entry] Relicanth
« on: February 22, 2014, 01:40:49 PM »
This is a nice entry. The quality of the info is very high :) However, since I'm also quite a Relicanth fan, I'm missing some things. The most important part that I'm missing is the lack in change in Relicanth over thousands of years. Like the IRL equivalent Coelacanth, Relicanth has not changed it's morphology since pre-historic times. This implies a combination of a very sturdy set of genes and a lack of evolutionary pressure.

Feel free to copy any of those phrases if you feel like it (though it's best you leave out the Coelacanth reference since it wouldn't make any sence in the pokemon world)

I did put that  :) Look in the intro.

#369 Relicanth (The Longevity Pokemon), Water/Rock Type

Average weight: 51.6 lbs
Average height: 3'03"

Intro

Relicanth is an ancient fish Pokemon sometimes called a "living fossil". It has remained unchanged for at least 100 million years. It is a very rare Pokemon sometimes fished up by fisherman or found by divers. It also has a mysterious connection to the Legendary Golems.

Diet

Relicanth is a filter feeder. It eats microscopic organisms while swimming along.

Habitat

Relicanth live in the depths of the oceans and are rarely seen by people.

Biology

Relicanth have brown scales that are as hard as stone. It uses these scales to weather the extreme pressures it lives in. Most of its body is a dark-brown color that has light-brown patches. There is a small, red dot on either side of it's body. The purpose of this dot is not fully understood but may help Relicanth locate others of its kind in the darkness. Its head is a light-brown color like the patches. Its head has cheek bones jutting out from each side and slits for eyes since it lives in the dark depths of the oceans. Relicanth has several fins like most other fish. Notably, it has two pairs of pectoral fins that it uses to push itself along the sea bottom. Relicanth has few natural predators because of its elusive nature and hard scales. Because of its water typing, it is able to use many Water and Ice-type attacks. Because of its rock-hard scales, it is also capable of using many Rock and Ground-type attacks. Relicanth is unable to leave the water for an extended period of time because it requires water to breathe.

Pokemon League Commission Notes

Because this Pokemon is rarely seen by humans and seems to have a very small population the PLC has classified Relicanth as a Class B Pokemon; limited capture but no restrictions on use for battle. Fishing for Relicanth on purpose for food is strictly forbidden and is punishable by a 1000 goldz fine.

That's fine Xetroc! I knew it was very similar. I like your sentence fuzzy!

I re-wrote the entire biology section from scratch this time instead of copy-pasting it from Slugma.

Pokedex Entries / Re: [Pokedex Entry] Tauros
« on: February 22, 2014, 02:41:12 AM »
I like the entry, but I'd add something about the Safari Zone in the capture and habitat parts. I'd personally add something about the contrast of Tauros being a indeginous species in the Kanto region, although the Safari Zone is the only area where they can be caught. Since the Safari Zone is regulated by people, this may say something about the nature of the Tauros in Kanto, perhaps they originate from another regio? I like speculations like this ;)

I'm trying to leave specific locations out of my entries since I don't know how the story for PU will be. I wanted them to just be general. Tauros have been in at least three regions, Kanto, Johto, and Kalos. Two of those they were in normal locations.

#219 Magcargo (The Lava Pokemon), Fire/Rock Type

Average weight: 121.3 lbs
Average height: 2'07"

Intro

Magcargo is the evolved form of Slugma.  Magcargo is a snail-like Pokemon made of magma. Magcargo's internal body temperature can reach 10,000 degrees Celsius causing it to vaporize water on contact. Magcargo live for thousands of years as long as they continually re-supply themselves with magma.

Diet

Magcargo consume minerals to survive. They are also able to incorporate magma and lava into their bodies for healing.

Habitat

Magcargo live on mountains and in volcanoes close to magma so they can keep themselves hot at all times. They lead groups of Slugma and weaker Magcargo.

Biology

Magcargo's body is almost entirely made of liquid magma. However, unlike their pre-evolution Slugma, they also sport a round shell made of hardened magma. This shell can be easily broken but can also be easily reformed by dipping themselves in magma. When the shell is broken, Magcargo actually becomes faster.  Their shell also leaks jets of hot flame in random locations. Magcargo are otherwise very similar to Slugma. They also have no limbs and instead slither on the ground making them very slow. They gain an extra magma drop on each side of their mouth and still have the same magma-resistant eyes. However, Magcargo's eyes very rarely don't melt when they die and can be sold on the black market for very high prices. It is thought if a Magcargo dies protecting their trainer or a Slugma under their care their eyes will remain intact. Magcargo are usually very docile but might lash out in anger if a Slugma under their care is hurt. They use the heat produced by their magma to produce powerful fire attacks and are also capable of using Rock and Poison-type attacks. Being a fully evolved Pokemon, they are also able to learn Hyper Beam and other similar moves.

Pokemon League Commission Notes

Because this Pokemon is the evolved form of another Pokemon and is rare in the wild the PLC has classified Magcargo as a Class B Pokemon; limited capture allowance but no restrictions for use in battle. The selling of Magcargo eyes is a federal offense punishable by 10-20 years in prison.

Magcargo is very similar to Slugma so not much is different.

Thanks for the feedback! Slugma was harder for me since I've never used Slugma or seen it in anything. I also wasn't sure what I should call it instead of 'slug-like'. I edited the Biology section to flesh it out a bit.

#218 Slugma (The Lava Pokemon), Fire Type

Average weight: 77.2 lbs
Average height: 2'04"

Intro

Slugma are small, slug-like Pokemon made of magma. To keep themselves from cooling they never sleep and stay in constant motion. If they stop, they may cool and break into pieces.

Diet

Slugma consume minerals to survive. They are also able to incorporate magma and lava into their bodies for healing.

Habitat

Slugma live on mountains and in volcanoes close to magma so they can keep themselves hot at all times.

Biology

Slugma are made almost entirely of magma. They have no limbs and they slither along the ground. The magma that makes up their body constantly bubbles and it is also used in the same way blood is used in other creatures. Slugma have two, large yellow eyes with small, black pupils on their heads with two drips of magma on either side. On the top of their head is a flame-like formation of magma. They use their magma to generate heat for many different Fire-type attacks. They can also use Rock-type attacks because of their close relation with stone and are able to use a few poison attacks because of smoke. Their eyes are made of a special kind of crystal that seem to be immune to the magma that makes up their bodies. However, when a Slugma dies their eyes lose their immunity and melt instantly. Slugma are also forced to refresh their magma similar to other creatures losing and gaining cells.

Evolutions

Slugma are able to evolve once into Magcargo at level 38.

Pokemon League Commission Notes

Because this Pokemon is very common and in no danger of extinction the PLC has classified Slugma as a Class D Pokemon; no limits on capture and use for battling. However, care must be taken in towns and forests because of their very hot nature.

Second go at making an entry. I had to make up some things since Bulbapedia didn't have a lot of info. I also plan to do Magcargo tomorrow evening. Also, I recommend we have a subforum of something for these because if we get these going this forum will fill up with them. Approved ones should at least be moved somewhere else.

#128 Tauros (The Wild Bull Pokemon), Normal Type

Average weight: 194.9 lbs
Average height: 4'07"

Intro

Tauros are classified as violent, mammalian quadrupeds with three tails. They use these tails to whip themselves into a frenzy and won't stop until they hit something or exhaust themselves. Only male Tauros have ever been found though they are known to breed with Miltank. They tend to lock horns when fighting each other.

Diet

Tauros are herbivores that graze on various grasses and other plants.

Habitat

Tauros mostly live in wide open plains where they gather in herds. There, they are able to rage freely without thought to damaging things. They are also raised on large farms by humans.

Biology

Tauros are hooved Pokemon covered in light-brown fur with a thick, dark-brown mane on their neck. They have a pair of curved horns on their heads that they use for battling and for show along with 3 round, hard points that help take impacts. Their trademark feature is their three tails, each ending in a fluff of grey fur.

Tauros battle by using physical attacks like Tackle and Horn Attack because of their strong, fast bodies. Like other Normal-type Pokemon, Tauros is also able to use special attacks like Flamethrower by tapping into a mysterious organ that is present in many other Normal-type species.

Pokemon League Commission Notes

Because this Pokemon is very common and in no danger of extinction the PLC has classified Tauros as a Class D Pokemon; no limits on capture and use for battling.

This is the first time I've ever done anything like this. Any help and critique is welcome! :D

I'm not much of a forum poster, but I do check back on the site several times a week. I've been looking forward to the game for a long time now. I met a good friend here and I hope to meet many more once you guys do get the game going. I have really liked everything I have seen of it so far and the balance server is the only online battling I'll ever really do. I think you guys can make an awesome game if you just keep at it! To everyone who has contributed, thank you for all your hard work!

Inactivity isn't your fault D: I'm not much of a forum poster plus I just got a full-time job. Others have their reasons as well. But if you feel like you should leave I can't stop you.

If it is for the MMO then I agree with Xetroc. Though it is nice, having that much stuff going on can be taxing.
