Favorite Generation of Pokemon?
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:10:53 PM »
SORRY IF THERE IS ALREADY A THREAD ON THIS, PLEASE DELETE ASAP IF THERE IS!

What are your guys favorite generation of Pokemon?

The Red, Blue, and Yellow Versions (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur)
The Gold, Silver, and Crystal Versions (Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita)
The Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Versions (Torchic, Mudkip, Treeko)
The Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Versions (Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig)
The Black and White Versions (Pokabu, Mijumaru. Tsutarja)

The Black and White Pokemon are VERY cool! I've seen many pictures on bulbapedia and serebii.

But I've always like the 1st and 2nd generation Pokemon.

How about you?

1.Johto, just because I think it has some of the best Pokemon in the history of the games.
2.Hoenn, because of how it expanded the plot of the pokemon games to more than just "let's make money and steal pokemon"
3.Kanto, It started it all. 'Nuff said.
4.Sinnoh, Most of the pokemon I thought were pretty unoriginal. Evolved the worst Pokemon, Nosepass, and the abundance of legendaries that weren't needed(Cresela, Darkrai, Arcreus, Phione, and Heatran.)

1) 3rd gen. Dunno why, I just loved the 3rd gen starters.
2) 2nd gen. The first pokemon I owned comes from here: Cyndaquil
3) 1st gen. The first gen of poke's that I ever controlled. Also: Charmander
4) 5th gen. Look awesome so far, but haven't seen the evolutions yet...
5) 4th gen. Ugly 'mon. The only good looking one is Turtwig  :-\

I'm sure you'll hear Generation I or Generation II almost exclusively from the staff.

But, for me, the answer would have to be Generation II. Not only was it the most innovative Generation (New 'story-line', more content, etc.) but it had some of my favorite sprites. Snorlax, Umbreon, and Tyranitar anyone? Mostly though, I do prefer the original First and Second Generation purely out of nostalgia. I imagine that I will like Black and White, mostly through new content, but Emerald will always have my favorite story.

Generation IV gets rather shafted as I like nearly nothing about it. Except for a few select Pokemon. (Dusknoir.)

I guess I like Sinnoh best because two starters are unique, and the other is the only type combo found within that game. Not to mention I like the physical/special move change which makes certain pokemon more valuable to me than they were before.

Then it goes Hoenn because it's easy to build a water mono team and features Kyogre. Then Johto because it features new types and has two regions.

I don't have much opinion on Isshu yet.

The 5th gen has potential. Everyone's getting mad that it's taking away things that we always had before and added stuff we've never had. I don't know about you, but I don't want to play the same game. Change is a good thing. I'm still not so sure about the only Isshu pokemon thing, though.

If you don't want to play the same game, you're playing the wrong game. pokemon is basically the same game five times over, with tweaks here and there. Like they're trying to perfect this one game instead of changing dramatically each time.
