Skin Tones
« on: August 31, 2010, 07:38:02 PM »
I was just wondering - with the character customisation, will there be different skin tones available?
I'm Caucasian so I have no idea why I'm asking, but I guess a lot of MMOs don't have the option to change skin colour which, in my humble opinion is:
A) Lazy
B) A wee bit racist?

What I'm trying to say is... if I went on a game I likes playing and couldn't make my character white, I'd be slightly offended.

I don't know if this was planned for the release or not. I know it wasn't in the pre-beta.

Atm, we don't even have girl sprites... so please, be a bit patient. ;)
And no, we're not racist. We didn't even think of skin colours...

I know you're not racist, it's just if I didn't have my skin tone on my own personal character I'd personally find it a little offensive.

Sorry for being impatient, it's just a lot of MMOs leave out changing skin tones, and the characters all look around about the same.

Well, you have the whole colour scale for clothes, so I guess that's not a big deal.

Having several skin tones just opens the door for racism. There are plenty of immature and lame people on the internet that would express their racism in a game like this. Having to deal with racists in-game is worse than getting over the fact that you can't have the same skin color as in real life. Besides, it's a roleplaying game (the RPG part in MMORPG ya know), you play the role of your character in-game. The character in-game doesn't have to be like the real you.

I'm just going to lock this then. Since it doesn't seem to serve any purpose anymore and the question was pretty much answered.
