guild problem:different servers (example: Elemental Elites)
« on: November 13, 2010, 07:24:22 PM »
I was talking about this with chad29. If I would become member of the elemental elites (guild), there is this problem. I would probably play on a European server and he (and lots more) on an American. How is this going to work? Would I also have to play on the American server to be in his guild? Or is there another solution. Let me know;)

Players would have to be on the same server to be in the same guild. Trying to work cross server guilds, or any other solution, would be a hassle and not worth the effort in my opinion.

Just like in every other MMO, play on the server that has the people you like the best.

and i don't think playing on a US server from Europe or vise-versa will be that big a deal, is there anything that server-lag or any lag would effect that greatly?

You are mistaken. The issue is that they are two different servers entirely, therefore two different games kind of. Each server will be different from the other and you cant have your character and pokemon on the both server, its either one or the other. So the issue is picking a server for the guild to go to

Guilds/Clans/Whatever you want to call it.. will be server bound. So if you want one to be on different servers you'll have to create it on both.

your missing my point i'm saying its not a big deal for someone in europe to play on a US server thats all, or vise-versa. its just a server a difference of seconds isn't going to matter in a turn based game.

Yeah, but how about walking around and stuff?
There's more than just battling involved. But you're right, some Americans have been able to play on the European sever with little lag.

I personally think there should only be one server. Im an American and im willing to accept the lag
that would come with playing on a European server if it means the unification of the community. I'm looking forward to playing with most of yall and i dont want to be split into two server

yeah i don't mind playing on a euro server at all and i'm all the way in oregon (once i'm home, in argentina for the moment) and whats the issue with lag with walking? the only people who will see the "jumping" are other players, i don't usually mind it but idk how the lag will effect this game personally.

Note I said 'some' The majority would suffer horrible lag, rendering the game unplayable. Also, having one server would limit the amount of players.

I think there are only two options, and they've alrady been presented to you.
Like Mr_Dark said, you could make your guild in both servers, and let each region repesent itself.
Or, you can do what Declan said, and just play on the server of whoever you like the best, and deal with the lag.

I, personally, will only go on the European server to play with my holmboys.
...Then again, since most of you guys are on the European server, I might as well just play on that one indipendantly...

Then I'l just play on the US server. No problem to me.

One server is not going to handle all the players. 1 server can handle about 1000 people (I hope more, tho). At the moment we have around 22.000 registered members of which maybe 50% (if we're lucky) will actively play.

Sure YOU would be willing to accept the lag but what about the other players? PU will try to host servers in areas where there are a lot players, so they can have the best gameplay and ping. Also, we spent a lot of time optimizing the connection stability so even walking is smooth if you're from Europe playing on a US server and vice versa.

Each server will be different from the other and you cant have your character and pokemon on the both server, its either one or the other.

Is this true?
