Click, drag and don't move anymore (don't release the click either). Look at the image that you're still dragging around, and that's the 'chosen' pokemon.

Currently playing Pokemon XY/ORAS/Shuffle and Clash of Clans and testing out PokemonRevolutionOnline and Dragonmon Hunter....
