[Pokedex Entry] Cleffa
« on: May 12, 2014, 05:53:27 PM »
Pokemon #173, Cleffa, Normal Type, Star-shape pokemon.

Intro: Cleffa is the pre-evolved version of Clefairy. Cleffa looks somewhat like a star, with its two pink pointy legs, its pink twirl and its two brown horn-like appendages. It has two pointy arms without digits, and a pink, thick and twirly tail. It has two small, beady eyes, a tiny mouth and what seems to be a permanent blush. Cleffa is considered to be amongst the most adorable pokemon in the world.

Habitat: Cleffa is barely ever seen in any environment. It is speculated that populations are amongst those of Clefairy, but Cleffa has as of yet only been observed at Mt. Coronet.

Diet: Cleffa's natural feeding habits have not been observed, but they are known to eat regular poke-foods such as poffins, rare candies, pokebock and others.

Biology: Cleffa is a pokemon that is said to have arrived on a shooting star. When a meteor strikes somewhere, the chance of finding Cleffa rises exponentially. It is not known whether Cleffa are drawn to meteor strikes, or whether a new Cleffa reachers earth with said meteor strike. Amusingly, Cleffa and its family are able to learn the move Meteor Mash, which hints towards its extraterrestrial origins.
When a night is particularly full of falling stars, Cleffa are said to dance the night away, only stopping at daybreak to quench their thirst with morning dew.
In certain regions, Cleffa cannot be found although Clefairy can be. It is thought that Cleffa live a sheltered life away from human activity untill they are old enough and have evolved. The only way to obtain this pokemon for trainers is to breed Clefairy.
This way of obtaining Cleffa is somewhat contradictory. Cleffa only evolves into Clefairy at a certain level of friendship and bonding. Additionally, there are not items required for Cleffa to be the offspring of Clefairy, which is needed for pokemon such as Munchlax, Azurill, etc. One would on the ground of these observations, expect wild populations to be full of Cleffa rather than Clefairy. It is hypothesized that Cleffa can evolve into Clefairy after reaching the same level of bonding with its parents, as it would with a trainer. This would explain the lack of Cleffa in most environments.

Pokemon League Commission notes:
Class F. Although Cleffa can be obtained in the wild very rarely, the PLC has judged breeding to be the most viable way of obtaining Cleffa, with all others being negligible.
