Charizard is like the ensemble darkhorse of the starters, or possibly pokemon in general. It has a rare typing, and in a game where you can't catch legendaries it's the only fire/flying type you'll get.

Just saying: infernape and emboar are also fire-fighting type starters...

I knew that. There's only 3 Fi/Fl combo: Char, Molt, and Ho.

I'm going Cyndaquil. It's always been my favorite, since I like the fire type starters and gold/silver/crystal was my favorite trio of games.
