Trainers Lounge / Re: How awesome do you think this is gonna be?

It will be so awesome that I'll wet myself when I get to first log in, and from that epic excitement urination it will fry my laptop and I'll have to get a new one.

That's how awesome it will be.

Marry me?

What a peculiar thing to say! I'll have to think about that first.  ;)

Quests & Plots / Re: Poisoned Garden Quest
« on: March 13, 2010, 10:49:35 PM »
Thanks everyone for your support and compliments ;] I really appreciate it.

I was wondering the same thing too Jerry. That's the main flaw in the quest; I originally had the idea that only you, the trainer and your pokemon, can be seen on the map instead of having other trainers spawn on the map also. When you finish the quest and the garden is restored, then the other trainers who have also completed the quest appear on the map. If that makes any sense  :)

Quests & Plots / Re: The pub with no ???

Is beer really appropriate for this quest? I mean... If you complete it and are allowed to buy beer from the owner whenever you want, it would be kinda odd having a younger character drinking it. [Woot drunk 10 year old characters! xD] Can it be switched to soda or something else?

It's more original that the last quest you suggested, I'll say that much.

Quests & Plots / Poisoned Garden Quest
« on: March 13, 2010, 07:33:09 AM »
This is my first time writing a quest, I hope this is okay...

I got this idea from reading the grimer and muk descriptions. "A toxic fluid seeps from it's body; it kills plants and trees on contact. So many germs are left behind them that plants will never grow again.'

This quest is mainly for trainers with level 25 - 30 pokemon.

During your pokemon journey, you come across a rather distressed older couple near the entrance to a well - known forest. The older woman is crying and muttering something about how the garden that has been in her family for generations is being destroyed by various poison, bug, and bird pokemon. Her husband adds that his recently hatched grass pokemon are trapped somewhere near the garden. "They are too young to defend themselves," he explains. "We have no idea why the pokemon invaded our garden and attacked us; we both tried to battle them off but they were too strong. Can you please help us? We would really appreciate it. The garden means the world to my wife." If you accept the quest, you will gain access to the garden area.

The garden is filled with pokemon from levels 25 to 30. These pokemon may include Wurple /  Dustox, Venonat, Ariados, Pinsir, Beedrill, Skorupi, Gulpin / Swalot, Spearow / Fearow, Murkrow, and Golbat. Feel free to edit the list.

The majority of the plants seem dead or poisoned. They have been picked apart by birds, eaten by bugs, and infected by poison pokemon. Even the small stream that divides the garden in two has been tainted into a purple toxic goo - like substance. The garden is like a maze, with trees dividing the garden into different segments. There are quite a few dead ends in the maze and figuring out the right path requires some problem solving. Certain paths in the maze may be blocked off by either smashable rocks, moveable boulders or strong pokemon. The trainer needs to remove the blockage in order to progress in the quest. Towards the end of the garden is a small cabin and behind it are the weak baby pokemon [paras, oddish, bellsprout, sunkern, weedot, shroomish, etc.]. As you approach the baby pokemon, a group of five level 35 grimer appear and block your path. It is evident that the goo from grimer's trail has infected the plants and tainted the water. They seem agitated and refuse to let anyone or anything go near their little 'hostages'. You need to battle and defeat or capture all five of the grimer before advancing in the quest. After defeating the grimer, a bulky muk challenges you. He's annoyed that you defeated his little grimer army and wants you gone from his new diseased hideout. In order to complete the quest you need to defeat him or capture him [since grimer evolves at level 38, I was thinking he could be level 40 to make it even and challenging?].

After this final challenge, you are required to lead the baby pokemon back to the entrance of the forest area and return them to the older couple. The couple is so pleased by your valiant efforts to save their beloved garden and pokemon that they invite you back to their cabin and give you a reward. I was thinking that the reward could be access to a special berry or grass based shop owned by the couple.

There could also be a second part to this quest where you need to help purify the tainted water and heal the sick plants, although I'm not sure how to make it original. I'd need more time to make the second part...

In a nutshell;
* Talk to the older couple
* Gain access into the garden
* Battle off various poison, bug, and flying type pokemon [Levels 25 - 30]
* Find your way through the maze [Remove the path blocks also]
* Defeat the gang of Grimer [Five level 35]
* Defeat the boss Muk [One level 40 - 45]
* Return the baby pokemon to the old couple
* Receive your reward [Access to an exclusive berry / grass shop or something?]

Trainers Lounge / What Are Your Goals On Pokemon Universe?
« on: March 11, 2010, 05:06:39 AM »
What will be your goals on Pokemon Universe once it is released?

Do you want to be the master of a specific element? Or do you want to finish every quest available? Or do you want to be the first person to create a balanced team with using only one certain pokemon?

I'm curious about other people's goals in the game. My personal goal is to win multiple tournaments with the team on my trainer card. I'm not too worried about earning badges and finishing quests.

That's definately not what I expected when I read the title. But it made me giggle... On the inside :]

I'm not too sure how rare the shiny pokemon are going to be in PU. It seems like this depends entirely on the rarity and availability of them. If you get one of the "special" pokeballs, do they act like master balls that can only be used on shiny pokemon or do they just give a higher rate of catching shiny pokemon compared to regular pokeballs? Will the shiny pokemon be of a scaled level or a set level? Also if you need a golden ticket to get access to the place where the shiny pokemon roam, are all 400 + pokemon in the area or only a select few?

Game Features / Re: Photographs in the game?
« on: March 11, 2010, 12:54:28 AM »
This is a nice little idea. It would be pretty awesome to take multiple pictures and put them in a photo album to show how your team grew and evolved over time. Were you planning on the user being able to move the pokemon's image around and place it where you want to, or were you planning on having the pokemon in set spots of the picture?

I watched it for a while and didn't find anything funny about it :/ I felt a little ashamed, like I was being too uptight, so I watched a few other episodes and it was still "mehh" to me. If the creators of Family Guy wanted to give a lesser character his / her own show, it should have been Quagmire. I'd appreciate the 'pervertedness' of that show!

Ah, I didn't know you've never played that one, I'm sorry. It just seemed very similar to that game.

It might help if perhaps there were more events leading up to the legendary part of the quest. For example the trainer could be required to beat all the opponents on the opposite team in order to retrieve a certain item that helps with the quest. Just a suggestion though. :]

This one made me giggle. I feel bad that he's an amputee now but the idiot kinda deserved it. Fortunately we won't have to worry about him passing on his genes to the next idiot generation!

General Chat / Re: If you were a trainer in the anime...
« on: March 10, 2010, 06:16:10 AM »
If I were a trainer, I'd try my best to catch all the pokemon in my trainer card on my signature. I'd focus mainly on battling rather than contests, and would try to teach my pokemon moves that other trainers would not suspect that pokemon to have. Any other pokemon that I captured but rarely used would stay with my friends or family. And I'm sure I'd have to rescue my friend Jerry all the time... He tends to not know what he's doing when he battles, heh.
