Title: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: TrainerX on March 17, 2011, 01:30:23 PM
People are starting to make individual threads for rating their teams. The conversations in them dies after five pages, and then the devs have to lock all of them. I decided to make a thread for everyone to post their teams in, so that the devs don't have to lock every single rate my team thread. If everyone posts their teams here instead of making a new thread, the forum won't be full of locked rate my team threads. So post your team here instead of making a new topic, and someone can rate it.

They came from the heavens in a great ball of fire.

Oh you were talking about the sprites.

^ He listed where he got his from, so I'll post mine. In the end, a sprites a sprite. I have most of them saved anyway. It's easier to access them when spriting or fusing if I have them quickly on hand.

First, you have 3 pokemon weak to fight. Thou you do have 2 that ether resist or are immune, from experience, they can't handle fight pokemon very easily. And your move sets suck...

Are we supposed to just post our team or do we actually post movesets/EV spreads/Natures/Items?
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: TrainerX on March 17, 2011, 10:24:53 PM
If you know nothing about EVs you don't have to. If you want to post all of that stuff, go ahead. I'll post my team later. Rex, I have a question though. Remember when you told me to add more defense stats to my Camerupt? How many Evs should I give to it's Defense, Special Defense and HP stats? I'm not sure. I've been experimenting, but I want to know what you think I should do.

Reposting my Psychic team.

Metagross-Lead
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Metagross-1.gif)
Clear Body
Adamant Nature@Occa Berry
252 Atk/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp.Def
~Stealth Rock
~Meteor Mash
~Earthquake
~Thunder Punch

My lead and one of my favorite pokes. Meta helps set up stealth rocks which supports my offensivenly minded psychic team late game. Meteor Mash is his main STAB and can OHKO many non-fire/steel type pokes before the attack boost and many fire/steel types afterwards. Earthquake is for those fire/steel types who resist its main STAB. Thunder Punch is so pokemon like Jellicent and other bulky water/flying pokemon don't wall me. Thanks to Occa Berry, Meta can withstand most incomming unboosted fire attacks and hit back with EQ. The only fire attack he can't survive from at full HP is V-create (V-generate) from Victini and the occasional critical hits.

Espeon-Calm Mind Bouncer
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Espeon.gif)
Magic Bounce
Modest Nature@Leftovers
252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Speed/ 4 Sp.Def
~Calm Mind
~Psycho Shock
~Yawn
~Hidden Power Fire

Espeon is my secondary sweeper. It outspeeds many threats and can take care of the special walls with Psycho Shock, which uses the defence stat when dealing damage. Hidden Power Fire is for the steel types that think they can wall my team and also hits bug and grass teams hard. Yawn is for forcing switches or putting pokes to sleep so it can set up or switch to a better counter. Espeon's main weapon is its ability, Magic Bounce. Magic Bouce works like a permanent Magic Coat as it bounces back all status moves, entry hazards, stat lowering moves, and other moves like tuant and torment back at the user. If Meta is against a faster lead that I predict will use Stealth Rock/ Spikes/ Toxic Spikes, I switch to Espeon to have the Stealth Rock/ Spikes/ Toxic Spikes sent right back at em. This is very useful for the likes of Breloom who will try to use spore then set up, only to have it bounce back and fall asleep itself.

Starmie-Rapid Spinner
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Starmie.gif)
Natural Cure
Timid Nature@Leftovers
252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
~Surf
~ThunderBolt
~Ice Beam
~Rapid Spin

Starmie is mainly used to get rid of entry hazards, counter flying/ground teams, and absorb status moves. It gets near-perfect coverage with T-bolt and Ice beam and helps take out many fire teams single-handedly. I may or may not swich this with a choice scarf/trick set.

Sigilyph-The Super Tank
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Sigilyph.gif)
Magic Guard
Bold Nature@Flame Orb
252 Def/ 252 Sp.Def/ 4 Sp.Atk
~Cosmic Power
~Stored Power
~Psycho Shift
~Roost

At first glance, you would think that this pokemon wouldn't be too great but this pokemon can be the best physical and special tank in the whole entire game. The idea is to switch out after a pokemon is KO'd or when you can switch in safely for flame orb to activate. Because of Magic Gurad, which prevents indirrect damage including damage from status problems, Sigilyph is effectively safe from the damage of burn and immune to other status moves that would hurt it such as sleep or freeze. Cosmic Power raises both deffensive stats and which Sigilyph's bulk, it often finds no problem finding time to use it 6 times and raise its deffensive to max (over 960 for deffence and over 1200 for Sp.Def). After this it can proceed to use Stored Power. Stored Power's base damage is based on how much it's stats are raised. After 6 Stored Powers, the base power for Stored Power is 260! This is enough to OHKO almost everything in the game. So Sigilyph can sweep an entire team without getting barely a scratch on it. Roost is used for recovering any damge its done and Psycho Shift is for burning to rack up more damage and cirppling physical attackers.

Gallade-Physical Sweeper
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Gallade.gif)
Justified
Jolly Nature@Life Orb
252 Atk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
~Swords Dance
~Psycho Cut
~Close Combat
~Shadow Sneek

Gallade is to hurt the special walls, Blissey, normal types, Chansey, ghost types who threaten my team, Blissey, priority users who aren't steel types, Blissey, oh and Blissey.

After a Swords Dance, anything slower than Gallade will most likely be OHKO with Close Combat. Psycho Cut is the main STAB as I prefer not to lower my deffensive stats when I don't need to. Shadow Sneek is for the ghost types who would otherwise plow though my team, especially Chandelure. I chose a Jolly nature soley for the purpose of outspeeding other Gallades using Shadow Sneek. Justified is an ability which raises its attack when hit by a dark-type move. This is also my main counter to dark teams and dark-type pokemon. I can often use Gallade in conjuncture with Metagross to break many physical walls down.

Alakazam-Main Special Sweeper
(http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x8/inocho/Alakazam.gif)
Magic Guard
Modest Nature@Focus Sash
252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
~Psychic
~Shadow Ball
~Focus Blast
~Hidden Power Fire

My main pokemon and main sweeper. Alakazam outspeeds many threats and 1-2HKO's most of them with Psychic. Shadow Ball is for ghost types and opposing psychic types. Focus Blast if for dark types and the occasional normal type that Gallade can't handle. Hidden Power Fire is for the steel types and is more reliable than Focus Blast because of the higher accuracy. Magic Gurad prevents indirect damage so Alakazam can use its Focus Sash without having to worry about it breaking from entry hazards.

Well, I've never been a fan of mono teams but this one is pretty good.

The only thing I don't like is stealth rock.(I'm just not a fan of entry traps, Personally I feel they kinda ruin the game so i'll never use any of them.)

I have a very weak defensive core with basically only porygon as a wall per.say. But venusaur and cloyster can take a hit pretty well, and I guess that makes up for it.
I should really get some stealth rock in the mix, im thinking of bringing a Aerodactyl lead with taunt and SR, but im not sure on what to switch.

Any input ?

use Arkeis.com
I am working on a mono fight team. And need some help. Here is what i have so far. And they are in no order as of yet.
Gallade- Physical Attacker/Tank
(http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff378/BigD6594/475.gif)
Evs: 255 Attack, 255 Speed.
Nature: Impish
Moves: Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Shadow Sneak, Psycho Cut.
Item: Leftovers.
Ability: Justified.
This is a set I found and Decided to use. He can bulk up and then either do it again, or get to attacking. If I wanted to, I could give him Sub. but I wanted an attacker, or should I?

Scrafty-Speedy Sweeper.
Evs: 255 Speed, 100 each defense, 55 Attack.
Nature: Jolly
Moves: Dragon Dance, Drain Punch, Crunch, Ice Punch
Item: Leftovers
Ability Shed Skin.
You might be thinking "Speed sweeper my foot, that is a slow pokemon!". The truth is, after just 2 Dragon Dances nothing can out run him on the first turn, and most pokemon can't last more than two turns with him. If he can get all 6 up, nothing can stop him, except Conkeldurr.

Conkeldurr- Physical Sweeper.
Evs: 255 Sp. Defense, 255 Attack.
Nature: Adamant
Moves: Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Mach Punch, Stone Edge
Item Leftovers
Ability: Guts.
After one Bulk Up, and if any one is stupid enough to give him a stat codition he has over 1000 attack. Combine that with mach punch and you have a very dangerous sweeper. He is the slowest pokemon on my team, but with his bulk he doesn't need to be fast. If you are dumb enough to let him get 3 bulk ups the game is all but over...

Lucario- Special Sweeper
(http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff378/BigD6594/448.gif)
Evs: 255 Speed, 255 Sp Attack
Nature: Timid
Moves: Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Psychic
Item, Expert Belt
Ability: Inner Focus
Lucario is one of the only Fight type pokemon that can run a Special set, and that is what i did here. With his move set he is Super effective against almost every type: Psychic, Poison, Fight, Dragon, Ice, Dark, Normal, Ghost, Rock, and Steel. That leaves only 7 types that are not going to get hit hard by him.

Blaziken- Speed Boost Sweeper
(http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff378/BigD6594/257.gif)
Evs: 255 Attack, 255 Speed
Nature: Jolly
Moves, Protect, Sky Uppercut, Fire Punch, Earthquake
Item, Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Nothing to say here, except i need some help making him a mixed sweeper...

Hitmonlee- Speedy Attacker
(http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff378/BigD6594/106.gif)
Evs: 255 Attack, 255 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Moves: Fake Out,  Earthquake, Close Combat, Stone Edge
Item: Normal Gem
Ability: Unburden
After He uses Fake out he has over 600 speed, so yeah he is fast...

With Conkeldurr, if you're waiting for someone to give him a status condition, you could just give him a flame orb to hold. That's what I do with my guts Swellow.

Also, you don't have to put 255 into the stats, 252 is best you can do. Which leaves you with a little extra to put elsewhere. Like your Scrafty, you could take 1 out of speed and put it in attack, it just gives a little extra.

I really like the look of that Hitmonlee.

I gave mine a Life Orb. It had 252 attack EVs, 252 speed EVs, and 4 HP EVs. It has an Adamant nature, and it's moves are Sky Uppercut, Swords Dance, Blaze Kick, and Stone Edge. It's ability is Speed Boost. And how do you get post them so that they move?

All of them but 1 are sweepers with EVs in an attack stat and an expert belt. This is easily countered. I would suggest a variety of Pokemon that work well together. For example, you could use a wall. I'd suggest Vespiquen.

The weakness to stealth rock will not be in PU, and Vespiquen is bulky enough to withstand hits from rock types. Plus, paired with Blastoise, it can eliminate most rock types and get rid of entry hazards.

IVs are set values that each pokemon has in each stat, ranging from 0 to 31. 0 being the worst and 31 being the best as you might guess. You can't change them, you get them upon hatching/obtention/capturing.

EVs are something else. Each pokemon can have a maximum of 510 EVs total, with 255 EVs maximum in one stat. Those, you can control where to invest in which stat.

I just joined PO to see how well my UU team could do, seeing as nobody goes on PokeLab anymore. I lost to a team of all legends by a Groudon, and beat a team of somebody who was supposedly really good. I think people on PokeLab were better...

Well, I know that... but I don't know how to tell what the actual EVs / IVs are.

you can't tell with out the use of a cheating device. I use an Ar and found the code on the web... just type: Name of the game you are playing followed by Ar codes... that should find you what you need...
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread

No, you can tell if you have the proper berries and an IV calculator (if you don't like working yourself with numbers).

I have the formula to calculate IVs and EVs and no cheating required.

If you have the berries number 21 to 26, you can drop the EVs to zero, and use the stats of the pokemon to calculate the IVs. And from the number of berries you used, and the IV you have now, you can calculate the EVs. It's just some basic math, once you have the formula.

I have a simular formula for calculating IVs but I use a IV calculator more often because I'm not sure how accurate my method is.

I'm always winning up until the point that my opponent sends out a legendary and destroys me.  It's kind of annoying.

Okay... did anything happen after you ran it? And did it say "download complete" or anything that indicates it had finished downloading? If so, check where the file it was placed and try opening the program. You may also double check if Window Visita blocked it or so. :)

As for my Sand Stream team.. any suggestions? It isn't all focused on ground/rock/steel which makes it rather unique. :)

You should put Excadrill in there, with Sand Power/Sand Rush, a Jolly/Adamant nature, and max Atk and Spd, With Earthquake, Rock Slide, Rapid Spin, and Swords Dance, though There are some other options, like Brick Break and X-scissor to hit breloom and bronzong for neutral damage.

If you're heading for an evolution of Eevee team, you're pretty good with the movesets of each individual(unless you've used Smogon for the movesets.. =/, not a whole much of credit). ^^
My opinion for edit:
Jolteon
moves: Tbolt, Hidden Power (Grass), Volt Switch, Toxic/T-wave
Espeon-Modest or down attack and up Sp. Def
(okay on the idea... but I'm NOT a fond with being the barrier build) my twitches on this would be:
moves: Reflect, Calm Mind, Batton Pass, Psychic (for STAB)/Shadow Ball
Glaceon
moves: Protect, Toxic, Ice beam, barrier

Last poke:
Flareon- http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/flareon (http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/flareon) Choice Scarf build

OR

Umbreon (an opinion but he is still useful)- Jolly or Up Speed down Sp. Atk
Item: Salac Berry
EV's: 252 Spe, 252 Atk, 4 HP
Moves: Endure, Flail, Taunt, Sucker Punch/Faint Attack

It has higher defs

Are you sure, cause I just looked it up and Cradily had about 20 more points in each base def stat.

@trainer- You may want to switch out TTar for Pawniard (or something like that) or another pokemon to avoid having SS to ruin your Leftovers.

Are you sure, cause I just looked it up and Cradily had about 20 more points in each base def stat.
That's what I thought of but don't disregard Evoilte Stone. It boosts defense and Sp. Def. 50% higher for under-evolved pokemons.

I thought of using him, but I only know that he's a good Sucker Puncher, and I already have Absol. What would be a good moveset for him?

No, that's not the point. Not his moveset. I've used that moveset before. :)
What I'm trying to point out is his ability, Sand Steam, will cripple your leftovers. That's why I'm saying you should switch him out and usually 1 sucker punch is good in a team. Just remember, having too much may tend to make your team bad. Try thinking outside the box and think of possibilities of what weakness is in your team. Dark has two weakness, Bug and Fighting. Focus on those two then add other diverse move types if you have plenty. That's all I can give you. The team is up to you how you want to build it.
Just reply back and I'll give you criticisms and suggestions. :)

That's why I didn't use Bisharp. And I know that's not the point, what I meant was, if I added him, what would be a good moveset for him, because I already have a sucker puncher, and I've never seen one that isn't a sucker puncher. I can see how Sandstream cripples Leftovers. I can't believe I didn't notice that. I need to find a replacement then.

Give your froslass spikes and destiny bond and it makes a killer lead. Make sure to give it a Focus Sash. Also you only have sweepers you don't have a pokemon that can take hits...

252 Hp, 100 each def, put the rest into attack

That is a tried and true set, made by yours truly,

Duskclops seems more reasonable, OR your other would be Spiritomb (although I don't remember the base stats for it) Other than that, I agree with Rex.
For my opinion, I'd rather have it be able to tank than doing most dmgs:
Nature: up Sp. Def down Atk.
EV's: 252HP 133def 133 Sp. Def
Shadow Ball
Pain Split
Toxic/WoW
Protect (if using toxic)

A little too much Sp. Atk sweepers. Switch one of the Nidos out for a Phys. Sweeper. Other than that, you do want a tank type poke like Muk. :)

Actually, Nidoqueen is able to take quite a hit, and also to deal one because of sheer force and her 3 powered up moves. I tried out muk once, but he dissapointed me. What kind of physical sweeper did you had you in mind?

Your MOST best reference of good movesets is from Smogon.com. Go there and search for... smogon.com/pokemon/pd/ (or something like that) and there you have it. :)
As I recall... I don't remember Ponge, it's been WAY too long I've touched PO and I can barely remember good movesets. I recognize them but most of the movesets are used from Smogon. You can create your own moveset as you may like if you're rather an expert. :)
I also suggest you read the suggestions on the bottom of the pages of the moveset builds :)

It's to surprise opponents/ catch them off guard. That way they 'll be wary to use moves super-effective on themselves. Vacuum wave is for priority. Maybe I could use the special set if this one doesn't work out.

I invest in Special attack, that's why I didn't use extreme speed. I knew it had +2 Priority this gen.

The only reason I used poliwrath is to switch in on resisted attacks and absorb water attacks (fire, water, grass core) and for it's ice beam/water attacks. I really need those.

Nope. Before Gen 5, it had a +1 priority so a faster pokemon using Quick Attack (or any other priority move for that matter) could outspeed it. Now its +2 so only a faster Feint user can outspeed it.

Alot of these teams that are being posted are creative...but not too competative. Its either because of EV spread errors or items. The movesets are overall fine though with the exception of Star's Eeveelution team. Just remeber to use common sense when equipting an item--Gengar does not need a Quick Claw when it already outspeeds a good portion of the metagame, Shell Bell is easliy manipulated by opponents and should only be used by Aron if you're going with the FEAR strategy, and for god sakes people, Life Orb is your friend...if you're running a poke with Sheer Force, use it! :P

Same here! if any needs an awesome Galvantula, i have like 20 of them i've breed, like 6 generations worth of them.  Male or female your choice. lol
This place isn't the place to post about breeding pokes. Please search for Wifi Trades if you want to announce this info to others. :)

I was just letting you all know what i do and if anyone needs a specific characterisitic or nature on a pokemon, then i'm here to help. I'm helping with the team part of this topic. Besides you're off-topic by reprimanding me, so back on topic please.

Feel free to rate this mono-fighting team. The lucario-set is a surprise-set I made from scratch. i use Me first mostly on dragons (I love it when a salamence uses draco meteor on me) and other predictable stuff like that (EQ etc). I'm not really sure about my poliwrath, or what items to use. Suggestions are welcome ;)

Mono- Fighting Team:

Infernape @ Quick Claw (Lead/Scout)
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- U-Turn
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz

Lucario @ focus sash
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Me first
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Vaccuum Wave

Poliwrath (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SAtk
Relaxed Nature
- Boil Over
- attract/focus blast
- Ice Beam
- psychic

Scrafty @ Shell Bell
Trait: shed skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain punch
- Crunch
- Rest

Breloom @ Life Orb
Trait: technician
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- bullet seed
- mach punch
- substitute/rock slide

(Gallade) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 104 SDef
Careful Nature
- Night Slash
- Drain Punch
- Leaf Blade
- Destiny Bond / Thunder Wave

For Lucario, it can learn Flash Cannon if you want in place of Vacuum Wave, and it can learn Dragon Pulse instead of Me First as well.

For Poliwrath, try using Physical moves, as it's more a physical type than SP.Atk type. Like having Brick Break and such.

Scrafty is a more defensive type, so Bulk up could work, or Work up if it can learn that. It surprisingly can learn Dragon Claw too if you face a lot of Dragon foes

Something for Breloom, i'm not fully sure if it works like i think it does, it that it has an ability Poison heal, which poison damage heals it instead of hurting. Giving it a Toxic Orb badly poisons it, so... it can eventually heal itself all the way each turn (if i think right)

Something i like doing with Gallade is giving him Scope Lens, and the moves Psycho Cut, Night Slash, Leaf Blade, and like Focus Energy or something. but Drain Punch sounds better

poison heal recovers 1/8th of your health every turn... It can't heal you any further...

How about Hydreigon? it has those Dragon-esque defenses and is Dark/Dragon SP.Atk type. Or, You could go fast hitter with power, Sharpedo.

Well, i'm not too keen on Sharpedo's  moves, but i know some strong ones are Crunch and Waterfall. ability is rough Skin

Hydreigon has Levitate, strong moves would be like Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Flamethrower, and Flash Cannon. as for status/stat up moves i'd have to look those up too

Did you look them up on PO? i don't have it anymore. My sister's bf said it was okay to download, then decided against it for some reason...

but yeah, those sound pretty good to me, only one thing: Would the Expert Belt do better on Hydreigon? or something like the Muscle band/Wise Glasses to up the Atk/Sp.Atk?
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: Mr. Fox on April 21, 2011, 12:16:54 AM
Trust me, that is a good set. It can break most walls, and makes a great mixed sweeper. The belt might work, but I have never used it with this set...
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: Pokemaster MAC on April 21, 2011, 12:21:28 AM
What about like the shell bell on Sharpedo instead of Leftovers? the more damage it does the more it heals after all, lol if it lives past a first hit. Something else that'd be good is the Rocky Helmet. It adds to the Rough Skin damage that gets done from physical moves
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: Mr. Fox on April 21, 2011, 12:22:36 AM
that set has the speed boost ability. That is why I gave it protect. If you run into something faster then you protect then attack...

@Ponge- Poliwrath is rather one of those BL/UU pokes in tiers.
Other than making it full Sp. Atk sweeper.. you can make it into a Mix Sweeper as well but I don't know what's a better set. =/

Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread

I think it's better with :
Brave bird
Thief
Cross Poison/Poison Jab (if it can learn it or depending which one is stronger)
Crunch (if it learns it)/Bite
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: PkMn Trainer Black on April 24, 2011, 06:22:03 AM
Cross poison has 10 less power than Poison jab. It can't learn poison jab because it dosen't have a tentecule or a hand. It can't learn crunch. at all. If it could. that wouldve been in its moveset. other than him, what about my other two?

the shiny Crobat i caught in FireRed, (as a Golbat) nicknamed Midnite, was more a special attacker, which was weird. at Level 50 it had like 106 Atk 96 Def 141 Sp.Atk 90 Sp.Def and 168 Spd. iended up giving it Air slash, Sludge Bomb, Heat Wave and i think Signal Beam or something...

A new team I'm trying out.

Umbreon-Relaxed
200 Def/Sp. def, 100 Atk, 10 Hp
-Curse
-Moonlight
-Confuse Ray
-Assurance

Don't ever give umbreon attack EV, it's wasted. He's a staller/wall, nothing more nothing less. spend it on HP instead.

Arcanine-Timid(IVs for Atk is 26)
-Extreme Speed
-Flare Blitz
-Thunder Fang
-Iron Tail

use close combat instead of iron tail (better coverage) and maybe you could change thunder fang for wild charge. EV's in speed and attack. never use a timid nature on arcanine, use jolly or adamant instead.
Gyarados-Jolly
-Dragon Dance
-Ice Fang
-Waterfall
-Earthquake

Maybe you could use stone edge instead of ice fang (hits most .dragons hard too with a flinchrate). That's up to you.

Staraptor-Naughty
-Aerial Ace
-Steel Wing
-Brave Bird
-Close Combat

There are better options than steel wing and aerial ace, use smogon.

Sceptile-Rash
-Giga Drain
-leaf blade
-X-scissor
-Dragon pulse

Don't use special attacks on sceptile. he's a physical sweeper. use smogon

Infernape-neutral nature( all IVs Except Sp. Atk are above 25)

-Thunder Punch
-Mach Punch
-Fire Punch
-Drain Punch

This set is horrible: use this one as a lead:
infernape @ focus sash
Jolly nature
155 Atk, 104 SpA, 252 Spd
-overheat
-close combat
-u-turn
-grass knot

conclusion: way to many (physical) sweepers!!! You can learn about pokémon on smogon (try use the forums too, they have great advices). And also try to mix it up (special sweepers, tanks, walls,...)

My sources are limited. I still only have Diamond. And how can Arcanine Learn CC?

I would change some of these if I had an AR because I no longer have OH,GK, or U-T. Besides, that umbreon is the same umbreon one of my friends used on gen 5 against Haxorus, Salamance and kingdra by itself, making the other guy RQ.

In gen 5 arcanine can learn CC.
I didn't knew about your limited sources. You can always find some movesets on smogon, and improve them the way you like. I use them for EVs, natures etc. The moves I change, depending on my team.

In all actuality, Your leafeon was my first without Leftovers and some impossible stats but with the moveset(Razor Leaf in place of Leaf blade) and Relaxed nature(+10% base Defense,-10% base Speed). before I battle a friend of mine, That Leafeon killed Bertha(Ground E4) and Lucian(Psychic E4) with some trouble. I have Three lefeons in total now my last one being the most sucessful. Here it is

Leafeon(Sky Nature)
Item: Leftovers
Nature-Relaxed
Evs:252 Atk & Def, 4 Spd

Moves: Leaf Blade, Grass Whistle, Quick Attack, Sword Dance

Pokemon he Defeated:Walrein,Garchomp,Typhlosion,Charizard,Gardevior,Blastoise,Deyoxys(All forms exept Def), Gyarados, Milotic, Flint's team excluding Rapidash, Bertha's team, Lucien's Team, Arron's Team(Bug E4), Cynthia's team, and Raichu.

There's probably more, but that's all I can remember now

ninetales: solarbeam is always nice on a drought pokémon, and fire blast/heat wave/flamethrower don't suffer the SpA drop from overheat. I don't see a particular reason to use power swap.

Lilligant: looks good, you might change leaf storm to solarbeam, but that's optional.

Snorlax: Ever tried a curselax? it's pretty hard to tke down when it sets up. This set can work too, but I had good experiences with curselax.

Infernape: Looks decent, but I posted another set some posts back which is solid. You might change u-turn for another move if you'd like.

Durant: nice set, if I would change a thing, then I would give him something else then T-wave .

Garchomp: he looks decent, its a basic gachomp sweeper.

Overall you have a solid team, nicely done.

I'm not the one who made it, someone on Smogon made it. I've just been using it on PO to try it out, and to learn a little bit more about competitive battling.

I just used the sets and pokemon that the team's creator used. Here's their reasons:

Quote
Ninetales
As much as I've always liked Ninetales and I've always liked Sunny Day teams, I along with everyone else, was disappointed that she was the one that got Drought instead of something like Heatran or even Arcanine. But making the best of it, I've made this set which has been the best set I've used for Ninetales so far. STAB Overheat becomes great in Sunlight, even with Ninetales' disappointing Special Attack stat not doing it any favors. Will-O-Wisp leaves me a little open to Heatran, but even with a Flash Fire boost, Heatran & Chandelure are not breaking Snorlax. It lets me Burn Tyranitar and helps with Politoed as they switch-in to take the Overheat. It's useful in general. Especially combined with Safeguard. Power Swap is a must with Overheat. Swapping my -2 from Overheat for a +0 while crippling my opponent is always welcomed. And stealing a Calm Mind or Quiver Dance boost from something that feels 'safe' setting up on Ninetales and giving them a -2 in Special Attack, is always fun.

Safeguard is team support mostly. If you wanna piss off all those bulky Waters & Chansey that switch into Ninetales constantly, use Safeguard. It's really overlooked. A guaranteed 5 turns of being immune to status with Sun up is just amazing and a half to most teams. By the time the Safeguard is over, after switching-out, I have 3 turns to set-up and sweep status free. Get Garchomp in and setup. Rotom-W & Jellicent can't burn my Garchomp and has their Hydro Pump & Scald weakened by the Sun, Chansey can only Seismic Toss me, Thundurus can't Thunder Wave me, my entire team becomes immune to Toxic Spikes, the whole Safeguard package is just ideal in this metagame. By now, everyone knows that status is EVERYWHERE this Gen. So you can imagine how awesome it is to not have to worry about it even just for a few turns.

Snorlax

It is coward killing time when this Snorlax makes his appearance. With my team weak to the omnipresent Latios, Snorlax can switch into Choice Specs boosted Draco Meteor and take only an average of 60% from it, or can just let a teammate take the hit, and OHKO it with Pursuit as the coward switches out. The same story goes for Gengar, Starmie, Azelf, and really any Psychic or Ghost type in that 110 Speed tier. It's usefulness doesn't stop there either. It's Blissey-like ability to sponge Special Attacks makes it an exceptionally good check for all Pokemon that threatens Sun teams. Hitting insanely hard with Return, OHKOing just about any Special Sweeper while taking a pittance from their strongest attacks.

Earthquake catches Heatran and Tyranitar who feel safe switching into a Choice Banded Return. Crunch is really to take out those pesky Recovering Psychic Pokemon that feel safe setting-up & Recovering off Pursuit's damage like Latias & Reuniclus. And yes, 1v1 Snorlax will beat Max HP/Def Calm Mind Reuniclus unless it's at +2 with Focus Blast, then it might stand a chance, but +1 Focus Blast doesn't do nearly enough to "break" Snorlax. Thick Fat helps it walls Heatran , Volcarona, & Chandelure even in Sunlight and KO them all with the appropriate attack. Even a Sun-boosted +1 Volcarona Fiery Dance will only take 31.4% - 37.2% of Snorlax's HP with Life Orb calc'd in, while Snorlax's Return will OHKO non-max Defense variants while doing 68.2% - 80.2% to Max Defense moths. The only issue is that Snorlax becomes set-up fodder for Fighting-types. Sometimes I have decide between Pursuing that Latios for a OHKO or Earthquaking that Terrakion that's switching in.

Durant

An ant holding a magnifying glass on a Sun team. Couldn't have done that on purpose if I tried. Joking aside, Durant is no joke. Base 109 Speed making it the naturally fastest Steel-type in the game and THE most Speed-trolled Pokemon in the game. Hustle is, as always, a double-edged sword, giving Durant a x1.5 boost to her Attack at the cost of having an average Accuracy of 80% on all her attacks. Wide Lens does remedy this by giving her moves 88% Accuracy instead while keeping the x1.5 Attack boost making the Wide Lens very justified as she already has basically a Choice Band boost. The EVs give her 347 Speed out-speeding the 108 Speed tier by one point since Durant is the only Pokemon in 109 Speed tier and doesn't need to tie with herself thanks to Thunder Wave.

Iron Head alone has almost made up for Hustle's Accuracy lose as it's Flinch rate is more than twice as large as Durant's miss window. X-Scissor is her obligatory second STAB. Crunch hits everything that resists her STAB attacks except Steel-types for at least neutral damage. Thunder Wave is Durant's last resort and her only offense against Steel-types. Luckily Durant isn't exactly expected to run Thunder Wave as most run Claw Sharpen so it catches everyone off-guard.

Durant's only real flaw is her pitiful Sp.Defense and her inability to hit Steel-types without having to resort to Dig, which can be said of half the new Steel-types introduced this Gen. (Looking at you Escavalier & Klingklang) She can, however, act as a pseudo-Haxrachi against the likes of Scizor & other Steel-types and can actually 3 or 4HKO them with Iron Head after she Thunder Waves them.

Her biggest job is helping Garchomp, Lilligant, & Infernape deal with Terrakion & Sawsbuck which are two of the biggest threats to the team. Durant out-speeds Terrakion & can dismantle it with Iron Head or Thunder Wave and she can take a hit from Sawsbuck and X-Scissor for the KO or Thunder Wave if I smell a Focus Sash. She actually does help out against Lucario since it can dismantle the team as well so having something that resists ExtremeSpeed that can Thunder Wave it is perfect if Garchomp is too weak to take a +2 ExtremeSpeed.

Infernape

Infernape is my problem solver. He's a little harder to switch-in than Emboar was due to the sheer lack of bulk, but he does the same job with more speed. The set is designed to maximize the damage he can cause in one round, but it comes at the cost of coverage; however optimizing his ability to abuse the Sun more than covers the cost. Close Combat is the main attack Infernape uses just due to the kind of Pokemon he's switching into. By using both Overheat and Flare Blitz, he can hit hard on both sides, making safe switch-ins pretty scarce. Just about anything that switches into Close Combat is not going to be able to take a Flare Blitz or Overheat except for Jellicent, Gyarados, & Tentacruel. Unless it's a faster Pokemon that resist Fighting, it's hard to force Infernape out. Even Pokemon like Sigilyph & Gliscor have a hard time switching in. Close Combat does 29.9% - 35.5% to Gliscors and an unboosted Overheat does 85% - 100.7% to it and is a clean OHKO in Sunlight.

The main key is to not let the opponent know you're running mixed Fire. Use Flare Blitz or Overheat, but don't use the other until you need it to KO something. Mixed Infernape is fairly common, but running both Flare Blitz and Overheat at the same time is very rare and very unexpected. Psychic & Flying Pokemon like Reuniclus, Sigilyph, & Thundurus are instantly drawn in by a -2 Mixed Inferape, assuming they can use him to setup after Overheat KOs one of their teammates. That's when you can nail them with Flare Blitz and net that sweet KO. Stealth Rock is useful for passive damage and Will-O-Wisp is really just to make Dragonite & Gyarados cry. I prefer Will-O-Wisp personally, but they're equally good options.

Garchomp

Garchomp is kind of lame this Gen. She's still Garchomp, oh god is she still Garchomp, but she's just so hard to switch-in and KO something with this Gen. With everything and their Grandma's dog running Will-o-Wisp, Scald, Latios, switching to a Leviatator, and/or just running Hidden Power Ice on everything, Garchomp feels legitimately harder to switch in than even Ninetales. She doesn't have that utility that Snorlax, Infernape, & Lilligant has. The opponent just has to hit her once then bring in their speed Pokemon to finish her off.

She does pick things off very well and lures in Latios & Starmie for Snorlax to OHKO. The only walls she really fears are Cofagrigus, Dusclops, and Porygon2 due to Fire Fang being Sun boosted, giving her basically 3 different types she gets STAB from, letting her ruin the likes of Skarmory and Balloon-holding Steel-types. Dual Chop is used over Dragon Claw because it has the same power and a little less accuracy, but it busts through Substitutes meaning the team has nothing to worry about when Snorlax draws Breloom & Sub+Disable Gengar in as she can break their subs and deal nice damage to them and even prevent Breloom from Focus Punching. I can't really afford to use Outrage because things are actually faster than Garchomp this Gen and I NEED her to stay around for most of the match if not just as a pivot.

Lilligant

Roserade's little sister. I don't even know where to start about this Pokemon. This team could not even function without Lilligant. There's just no replacing her because no other Pokemon can do what she can do for the team. I'll just start with the basics. Lilligant is usually my lead and for good reason. She can OHKO all other opposing Weather leads (except Abomasnow) and Sleep Powder their common switch-ins. After a Sleep Powder, that's usually Ninetales' cue to switch-in. With the popularity of Tyranitar and the amount of players that seem to forget that Tyranitar does get OHKO'd by a Lilligant/Roserade/Exeggutor/Tangrowth Leaf Storm, I almost just get free wins from Sand teams, especially since Lilligant is never known to run Leaf Storm anyway. When I take out their Weather Starter on turn 1, that's it. Excadrill becomes too slow, Starmie gets entirely shafted by Snorlax, Vaporeon becomes laughable, and the list goes on.

"Okay, so what? Tyranitar can just switch out to-" To what? Heatran? Latios? Volcarona in Sand? Snorlax OHKOs them all and just shrugs off their attacks due to his Special Defensive bulk. The great thing about using Leaf Storm is that Lilligant not only OHKOs Tyranitar, but she OHKOs all of the common faster Sandstorm Pokemon. Gliscor, Garchomp, Excadrill, Landorus, Gyarados even? All OHKOd by Leaf Storm. Pokemon like Ferrothorn & Scizor that resist Grass STAB, will have to deal with Sleep Powder the next turn so they're not even a truly safe switch-in without a Lum Berry. Espeon is OHKO'd or at the most 2HKO'd by Leaf Storm and ruined by Snorlax. Xatu loses a great chunk of his HP from Leaf Storm, easily bringing him into HP Rock's KO range even at -2 in Sp.Atk.

Now you might ask "No Quiver Dance?! What is this?!" Well, it's the fact Leaf Storm makes Quiver Dance nearly pointless and Healing Wish is far too good to pass up. Having a Full Restore on the team at the cost of just one moveslot is invaluable. With Sleep Powder, a 140 Base Power attack from 350 Sp.Atk, and a Full Restore coming from 556 speed in Sunlight, Lilligant can completely change the tide of battle against nearly any foe.
I'll try your suggestions too, and see if it improves the team. I'm going to make my own team soon, so I'll post that when I'm done.

now I can see the reason for using those moves and it is well-thought. I never saw a pokémon who abused the SpA-drop from overheat etc. This guy is a genious at that point. But it is the point to make up your own teams and post them here, not to copy someone elses team.

I actually want to give a mono-rock team a try. I have made this team, but I haven't tested it out yet. If you guys know anything to change, you can tell me here. I might switch crustle out for someone else.

The reason I was using someone else's team was that I was still getting the hang of making teams. Now I'm working on making my own, not that I understand the process better. I just posted it here to see what everyone thought, since it's such a good team. I'll probably have the first version of my own team up in a couple of days.

Heracross/Armaldo/(Durant if I give it SE over Crunch) can take out fire types.

Heracross/Durant/Scizor can take out rock types.

One with a 4x weakness to flying. Heracross
Heracross/Volcarona/Armaldo/(Durant if I give it SE over Crunch) can take out flying types.

In PU I will be replacing Armaldo with this Shuckle:
(When I no longer have to worry about stealth rock.)

Shuckle (M) @ Binding Band
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

I appreciate all help.

Your team looks complete. I would maybe suggest a crustle instead of shuckle in PU (With shell smash it's basicly a better version of armaldo, in my opinion).

Only in PU will I be using shuckle. The only reason I am using Armaldo now is for rapid spin on PO. I will look into replacing Armaldo with Crustle. Although Armaldo does a very good job with seismic toss. But with no stealth rock in PU Shuckle will replace either of them. If only it had rapid spin so I could use it now in PO.

Infernape makes a great lead, If adjusted correctly (look at my mono-fighting team for the moveset). Use Starmie as rapid spinner with boltbeam and water STAB. That set is awesome with his speed and SpA. Why ice beam on a physical pokémon like Swampert? You could use toxic to wear the opponent down or yawn to force switches instead. Gengar, Blissey and Scizor are looking great. Overall you have a decent team.

I had already changed Ice Beam to Toxic, but I accidentally typed his old set. I'll make the other changes you listed and see how it works.

If your building your teams on PO, just export them to text and copy and paste it. No need to type out your team. :)

I don't know how to do that, otherwise I would have. It would've been a lot faster.

When your in the team builder, click file, export to text, then copy and paste.

(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_NMBGcXDCaU/TePebjwOzYI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/ptE1S3CuiZc/s128/Untitledshow.jpg) It's hard to see, but the export button is right above the "new" button and below the import button and the Item button. click it, and you will get a text version of the team you currently have up.

Rate me Plz?

my foreseen judgement for type coverage;

vaporeon- Good moveset since it can't (unfortunetly) learn EP

jolteon- to many Stab moves. SW is more than likely a must in case you encounter 'evaders'. you might also want to switch out discharge for HP(water) for type coverage along with canging the nature to timid for safety reasons(Aerodactyl with EQ) and use this EV spread instead(4 HP/252 SpA/ 252 Spd). Switch out the leftovers for the berry that weakens ground moves instead.

Flareon- again, too many stab moves. you could give it quick attack or Giga impact as a last resort for lava plume, assuming that you're single battling. you could also give it superpower in place of heat wave fot type coverage and since it's his best base stat.

umbreon- switch hyper beam for confuse ray. that's it.

Espeon- switch the Life orb for the wise glasses to lose the recoil and change the nature to timid.

Leafeon- we already discussed this one, so leave as is.
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: LeoReborn on June 04, 2011, 01:51:30 PM
Flareon has Hyper Beam instead of Giga Impact, because its SpAtk is Higher than its Atk.

Jolteon has Discharge, Specifically for Double/Triple Battles.

If I'm changing Jolteon and Flareon, I'll give them Metronomes, because I end up using Heat Wave and Thunderbolt often.

Espeon has a very high SpAtk, but a low Spd, So, I'll give it either a Wise Glasses, or Quick Claw

Vaporeon has Signal beam, for dealing with those pesky Psychics.

Umbreon.... I thought Hyper Beam was a good Idea, but there isn't much use for it in Umby...

I think it can learn Substitute, so with its High Def, SpDef, and Leftovers, It becomes more of a wall. Synchronize also helps in case of Toxic-spams.

Wait a minute, Isn't signal beam's power 60?

flareon-I know that. I was just pointing out that Atk was its best base stat

Espeon- are you talking about your Espeon, because it is the 2nd fastest eeveelution.

Umbreon-sorry, but the only ways HB is stronger than DP is by facing a Fighting and/or Dark type. but Sub is good too as long as it is used right after yawn. I'm using the online dex to help because my strategies are limited by not having BW and being stuck on Diamond, making me a lone wolf. I used to have someone in school to help me with them, but he's moving and i don't have internet that is acceptable to my DSL.

Just to clarify some misinformation here.

Flareon has Hyper Beam instead of Giga Impact, because its SpAtk is Higher than its Atk.

Flareon's Atk stat is much higher than its SpAtk. Atk is sitting at a fantastic base 130 while SpAtk dwindles at 95.

Quote
Espeon has a very high SpAtk, but a low Spd, So, I'll give it either a Wise Glasses, or Quick Claw

Espeon's speed is anything but slow. It has a whopping 110 base in Speed. That is faster than most Pokemon and makes it the second fastest Eeveelution. Only Jolteon is faster.

Quote
Vaporeon has Signal beam, for dealing with those pesky Psychics.

Signal Beam has 75 BP. That means it has 150 versus Psychics. Not a slouch move in the slightest. However, Surf has 95 BP. After factoring in STAB, it becomes 143. So, you would have 7 less points of BP for the chance of hitting more than one Pokemon.

(I mention this because you mentioned double and triple battles earlier.)

Quote
Umbreon.... I thought Hyper Beam was a good Idea, but there isn't much use for it in Umby...

Umbreon's SpAtk stat is horrid. His physical Atk stat is mediocre. That's why he is generally used as a wall. Or a tank if you run his Curse set. It's also possible to drop a few points into Atk and give him Payback for some pretty reliable damage.

Sorry... but I know what a Sandstream team is (aka SS=>Sandstorm). It's a mediocre SS team though... Not the MOST best I've seen before...

Here is my revived psychic team.

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- ThunderPunch

Espeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Yawn
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Trick

Sigilyph (M) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Bold Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Roost
- Psycho Shift

Gallade (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Psycho Cut
- Shadow Sneak

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt
- Fire Punch
- Drain Punch

My only threats with this team are scarfed Herracross and scrafed Krookodile if they are running the ability Moxie. I can handle them both if Jirachi is unharmed and can come in safely but Rachi can not survive a moxie boosted EQ from Krookodile or a moxie boosted Megahorn from cross so he must come in quickly to get rid of these threats. If steal rocks aren't up, Volcaronna can be a serious problem since it outspeeds my whole team after a single quiver dance. I'm still looking for a counter to this.

what about Punishment(Sigylyph)?
Title: Re: The Team Rating Thread
Post by: Noah_Road on July 19, 2011, 04:37:09 PM
Sigilyph has no room or use for punishment. The Cosmic power + Stored power combo is essential for him being there and roost is needed for him to be an effective tank and wall. Psycho shift is to burn physical attackers making setting up on them easy (burn cuts the attack stat in half).

A few notes i can put in. Volt Switch is okay on Jolteon because of  it's high Speed. i like it with my Electivire so switch from SpAtk to Atk on a moments notice.

I ran into a battle with a Vaporeon that knew Aqua Ring which isn't really useful so Substitute, Protect, Wish and Toxic also. Strategy goes Substitute, Toxic, Wish, Protect,Wish, Protect and on and on... really annoying i must say. and the held item was a Focus Sash

And Umbreon is a wall... a wall of annoyance. Confuse Ray, Toxic, Flash, and idk about double team. Then you got like no chance of being hit while they die of poison.

The big heavy hitters in my opinion are Flareon and Espeon. my Flareons tend to have a high Attack, Espeon SpAtk.

-Espeon being pretty fragile, can't take much of a punch, so turn it into a glass cannon. Moves like Psychic, Shadow Ball are the best ways to go. dominate on the offense with it and let things like Vaporeon and Umbreon be the defenders
