Other rules might be imposted, like... it should be the longest word possible, if the word can still be lengthened.

We should make some rule so that one can 'prove' that there is a longer word.

Like...

Someone say 'put' and says (s)he won, then another comes and says no, that there's 'putting' which is the longest and another can come saying that 'putrefactions' would be longest and so on.

 Okay so maybe I understood it wrong but what you are suggesting is this?:

 Player1 and Player2 have created a word: follow. Player1 was the one who completed the word with the "w" and says he won. But Player2 can say that no there is a longer word called following? So basically that would be like challenging Player1?

 We can try it ...

Yes, but it should be using the set of letters just before the first player claimed a complete long word.

Like if we got to puttin and the next player says putting, one cannot say 'putrefactions' since the set of letters is 'puttin' and has to be build from there.
