I'm sorta waiting for Cortex to do something like an alarm to notify theres a buncha monsters heading straight for the base, chasing a boy, riding a demon dog thing.

I'd think GW would keep it quiet.  I mean why cause a panic when the threat is unknown.  Cyrus seemingly came alone.  I'd interrogate him first, then if there is an immediate danger I'd let people know.
