Another possibility of absols i would look into is swords dance + super luck + night slash.

That setup really messes with people sometime, trust me

I would also like to add my Honchkrow's combo:

High attack, Descent Speed, super luck, scope lens, and night slash

Mantine has good special defense and can take quite some hits (and with Water absorb, it lasts even longer in a water team or with swift swim, its speed can become handy) while landing decent damage but is more special attack wise. Gyarados on the other hand is more attack wise and defense.

I like both of them... but it's up to you. If you feel you have too many special attackers, Gyarados is the way to go, otherwise, I'd choose Mantine.

actually if i do have a training flaw its that i do really soley on speacial insted of physical attacks....but i am trying new things this time thats y i got aerodactyl and scyther two poke i never use. for my water type i do want someone who can take hits and use aqua ring thats kinda y i chose mantine but i've been watching battles on youtube and they arent surviving any hits.... so its got me kinda afraid. ya know

Well, a well trained one can survive hits.

I had one for instance which survived an electric attack. I don't remember what pokemon that was though... I was at school battling with someone.

I think as far as the beginning of the game goes, it will be ok to branch out with other pokemon types. I'm assuming it will be like most canon games start, and am not expecting to see members of all seventeen types right from the start.

yeah ill prolly have charizard and nothing else for a while unless yanma is caught quick...im pretty sure mantine scyther dragonite and aerodactyl are coming later and prolly in that order

as for jerry.... yeah maybe they just had mantines with a bad personality or something so i'll make sure i find one with a  spcl. Def boosting trait. i may still raise gyarados and switch the two out every two months or so

oh yeah i dnt know if there is a thread for it(too lazy to look for it) but
dont yall think the trainer on this game (pokemon-universe) walks kinda fast.....

An Eeveelution team doesn't really fit with what we're doing.

For them, it's a challenge and when they manage to win, they feel that they won much more than just a simple match.

Who ever said that the Elite 4 specialise in only one type of pokemon? Nobody ever said that.
sry this is old but i just now noticed this and had to quote it... uhh dude if u talk to people in every game there are those with info on each one of the elite four members... and all of them were one type trainers except agatha who was a two type trainer...and still to me she was just a poison trainer back then...oh wow it also tells u on bulbapedia that they are one type trainers

on topic i switched out scyther for crobat i like scyther but there is nogaruntee he will get the job done and well crobat is going to be used for manipulating my opponents stats and then u-turning outta there

oh and driftblimp or whatev is really starting to look good to me for boosting my dragonite or charizard i mean 3 stockpiles and then a baton pass.... the occasional explosion and a roost.... thats amazing but problem is i don't know who to take out for him... and honestly yanmega is used as nothing but my unofficial psychic pokemon and he is actually the only pokemon on my team with a flying move... hehe how did that happen? chad any advice should i switch or leave the team alone i wont post my move sets up here but i can send them to u chad and i will but not today i left my paper at home...

Have you ever even PLAYED D/P/Pt? The Elite 4 barely had ANY pokemon loyal to their own type. Especially Flint.

Just a question, but how about a dragon team?
