travel options

as im sure your all aware (if your not, what are you doing here?) pokemon games have a long history of using bikes. (personally my favorite games for this were r/s/e because you could choose between two very different bikes that would gain you access to very different areas...please keep that feature in mind PU team)

and in diamond and pearl, we were introduced to the running shoes (another great idea), but when you get into the snowy mountains, your speed in travel is severely impeded.
my suggestion is that when (assuming this game is going to have some snowy terrain) is that their should be a shack where you can exchange your bike for a snowmobile (and vice versa). (obviously they cannot be used on their counterpart terrain)

now, i feel that this shack should be in a town or village, that way, in order to get to it, you still have to trudge through the thick and thin snow first; once you get to the town, you can go to the shack, and of course a small side quest would be nice before gaining this privilege, but then you can drop off your bike and get a snowmobile and be able to travel through the snowy mountains faster
and perhaps for more usefulness, you can get through much deeper snow, or over ice without sliding (and if the same slide mechanics are employed as in the games, you would therefore be able to stop and turn and exit the ice somewhere you would otherwise be incapable of reaching).
then of course you would have to return to the shack to get your bike back, but so long as you have a pokemon with fly, this should not be a problem.

please expand on this idea people, i am only one man ;)

Or, you could have flying pokemon be able to carry you over mountains, water, lava, and pretty much any other terrain, but only by something like a special item that allows pokemon to carry you, and not like fly in the games where you could only travel to a town, but more like surf where you control the pokemon as it is flying, and only pokemon who would be capable of carrying a human, so no starlys or pidgeys could carry you, only pokemon bigger than the player character, maybe something like a dragonite.
I like slowpoke.

Fire pokemon to let you cross lava rivers is a good idea. I'm against the ability of flying everywhere you want to, because it means everyone will just fly around (why walk if you can fly?) leaving the ground empty and boring. It also destroys the adventuring through a big unknown area and such.

I'm not feeling to write a whole story so I'll sum it up :D

Different bikes (maybe some with more gears) - Yes
Snow mobile for snow areas - Yes
Flying everywhere - No
Flying from town to town - Yes (Maybe not all towns will be accessible with fly)
Fire Pokémon to cross lava/magma rivers - YES!
Running shoes - Don't know about this. How about we let players with a higher level walk faster? (Note: I'm talking about the PLAYERS level not the level of the Pokémon that player is carrying)

We might implement something like dive, so you can reach the ocean floor. Don't know any specification for that yet, but it's an idea which has been around for some time.

i say that fly, lava swim, surf, etc.. shouldn't be in attack forms unless the player wants them to just because i gets annoying for a lot of people in games to have an attack slot taken up by something used outside of battle and rarely used any other way

We might solve this by adding 1 extra slot (which is hidden in battle) for these kinds of moves.

That sounds like a good idea to me. Being able to set HM moves without wasting a spot, unless you want it in your move set. I'm all for it. =P
