I'll be getting black, Black city over white forest, technology based Opelucid City over rustic version, and the fire/dragon legendary Reshiram.
But I guess if you don't care too much about Black City/White Forest, High Tech/Rustic Opelucid City, or the typings of the legendaries, another way to pick is by, special attack or attack, what is better for your team? I'm choosing Pokemon Black for all those reasons (fire/dragon, Opelucid City, Black City and special attack)

Charmander used to be my fave starter...then i met turtwig...then I realised that, although Torterra owns many other starters...charizard wins.
im gunna have to flip a coin for turtwig or charmander when the game is ready

what kind of a name is woobat, especially for the pokemon that is OBVIOUSLY taking over the role of ZUBAT, the least the could do is make a large difference between the two, but instead they change the first sound of it and say "yeah, thats good enough"

charmander gen one, a definite challenge to start with, you had to level it up heaps, catch a caterpie level that up heaps til it is a butterfree with grass type moves (absorb), or somehow manage to get your hands on a grass or water type just to have a chance at the first gym. squirtle gen one, level up til water gun, challenge gym, win. now i liked the challenge, and it had me better prepared for misty. gen three, IT LEARNS METAL CLAW, how awesome is that, but you are still at a disadvantage with misty, still a challenge. When you have your first badge, you can of course go to the third gym, but there will the leader's pokémon be at level 30, so you are kind of supposed to follow the path.
And where exactly did you get this information?
And these restrictions make the game practically unplayable unless you want challenge the gym leaders.
I always assumed we were scaling the gyms appropriately to level. IE: You beat the first gym, the rock gym, and can freely go to the fifteenth gym, the ice gym, and those Pokemon would now be scaled up to the same level as any other second gym.
Actually that is a really good idea, it adds more to the surprise factor of each gym. Your first gym would have pokemon of that level and pokemon obtainable at that level, this then allows for many different ways to go through it, and it would be a lot more difficult for people to ask what pokemon this gym has if not many people have done that gym type as that gym leader. Ex. I may choose the rock gym first, many others would choose this as their first gym so i could be told that the leader has Onix Geodude and Nosepass (first three that popped into my head). Or i could do it as my last gym, and not many others have ended the gym challenge with rock so it would proove a great challenge for me to receive a warning of the Golem Armaldo Aggron Magcargo and Tyranitar that the same leader has. just realised that what i just referred to doesnt seem to be in this thread, it is in another...just not sure which one

Wouldn't it be better to choose your starter from a larger amount of pokemon?
Of cousre there would be some you can't choose as a starter because they are rare or whatever, like dratini, larvitar, bagon and others.

What i think is : How many WILD Bulbasaurs do you see in the games without hacks...none. How many wild dratini do you see in the games without hacks...few. By your logic we wouldnt be able to have any of the designated starter pokemon because they are rare. This is just my opinion on your opinion.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I would love to see a dark type gym leader, mainly because in 5 generations of pokemon games, it is the only type to not have a gym leader.
