Art Work / Rate the Avatar and Signiture
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:13:08 PM »
Alright so I've seen this on a few forums and I haven't found it on here so I thought I would start one.

The point of this thread is to rate the person above on their avatar and signiture. Rating is just out of 10 points and no commentary is needed unless you want to.

So a general post would be like:

Avatar [insert points here]/10
Siggy [insert points here]/10
[insert optional opinion here]

Its easy. We can start by rating mine :P

Yeah true but maybe in our world Jirachi could visit ever 75 years instead of every 1000 lol. Its easier than finding a commet that comes every 1000 years xD

I can see Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina in their own dimension that connects to our world through 3 special places.

Dialga's portal or link to our world could be located at Big Ben in London since they both are so well known for time.

Palkia's link could be somewhere in Tokyo since they are so dense in space--something that represents the legendary space pokemon.

Giratina's link would probably just be anywhere since I can see him choosing where he wants to open up his portal (and I can't think of a good place in the world xD)

I can see Jirachi's home being on Haley's Commet itself and it only comes to earth when the commet is close to earth.

Heatran would probably be living in the earths core.

Registeel would probably be somewhere in middle Europe since thats where the iron age started. Maybe in a temple below the Eifle Tower in France.

I've forced taught myself to like all of the english names...hating them won't make them go away (trust me, I've thrown fits about some of them).

On a similar note: Fraxure and HAXorus=The Best Pokemon Names EVER!

On another similar note: Anyone else gonna nickname their Oshawott "Oshawut?"...?

I've trained quite a few pokemon to lv100

-Infernape
-Electivire
-Scizor <3
-Garchomp <3 <3
-Metagross
-Starmie
-Aerodactly
-Alakazam
-Dragonite
-Gallade
-Gardevoir
-Another Alakazam
-Another Starmie (different EV spread geared for choice scarf/specs)
-Another Metagross ment for being an agility sweeper and not a lead
-Hitmonlee

All of these are in my HeartGold game and most of them will be going to my Black game as soon as I get it (:

Ah Doryuzzu....*shudders*

Anyway, back on topic. So I guess since both parties of Salamence and Tyranitar have very valid arguments we're at a standstill. We need to go into more dept of the situation. What kind of battle are they having? 1vs1 or a standard 6v6 where they can freely switch out? Are we to assume that they can have any item? If so, we must assume that they both have the same item in the same battle for an unbiased answer.

[]... Zoom Lense are normally banned from competative play or not looked upon lightly.

Zoom Lens doesn't increase crit chance, it actually increases Accuracy by 20% if the user moves after the opponent. There was an error in translation and it ended up saying crit. However, testing has proven (Mine and others, if you'd care to look in to it) that it is indeed a 20% accuracy boost. The translation error was fixed in games after Diamond and Pearl.

In reference to crit boosting items, they are not banned per se. They're just generally looked down upon as they throw more luck into the game.

I read the post wrong and was thinking of scope lense. And isn't Tyranitar's most used sets its lead set followed by its bait set? The bait set is probably its best method of getting rid of Scizor and Jirachi (and other less important steel types who probably wouldn't switch into him anyway) by having the same set as the choiced variants but with a Babiri berry instead. From what I see on PO is that Tyranitar is being lessed used with choice items in turn for the standard lead set because of the booming usage of Doryuzzu.

under all actuality. any of those  would be  able to beat each other, in my eyes.

to me it depends on EVs, items, nature, base stat, ability, moves and last but not least, luck.

luck can play a big factor if you're that kind of person who lives thru luck

Ex. Lets say mmy tyranitar is faster than a salamence in competitive battle. if you are lucky, you can keep flinching the salamence with dark pulse to the point of when the health is low enough to knock it out with dragon claw (taught) or stone edge.

But i would prefer tyranitar. it's the only pokemon with rock-dark combo, and it rapes the whole elite 4 by itself, diamond-wise

All i got to say is, why in the hell would u be running dark pulse on a tyranitar?

Tyranitar's base attack = 134
base SpAtk= 95

If you have dark pulse on a tyranitar switch it to crunch.

my pokemon is based on versatility. i already have Earthquake, Stone edge and dragon claw. that is three phy moves. if i happened to be going against a primape, and i ran phy swpr, and it was my last pokemon, i would easily get OHKO'd by counter. as for noah...

Ehh...no lol. Even at a -speed nature, Salamence outspeeds Tyranitar. As for luck, maybe but earthquake has 100% accuraccy so unless you're running a shuca berry or balloon (both rather rare on a Tyranitar), Tyranitar won't be able to run on luck.

it still can, just not with dark pulse. Stone Edge has a high Critical Hit ratio. giive it a zoom lens, and it'll be even higher. critical hits break thruogh offensive dents and defensive buffs. so just give tyranitar Atk and Def Evs, and it should survive 1 or 2 EQs. that should be enough time to get in critical SE, which should knock it out between then... if your lucky.

See thats the thing, if Tyranitar was able to get a hit in then maybe. I've tested; A calm/bold/careful Tyranitar (max defence) with 252 DEF EVs and/or 252 HP EVs is still OHKO'd by an earthquake from an Adamant max Atk Salamence. If it were to invest that heavily in the defensive stats, it wouldn't be able to OHKO Salamence due to its not lack-luster atk which has already been cut in half: in which case Salamence would just 2HKO it. You can't expcet to "just give a pokemon Atk and Def EVs" and expect it will surive super effective hits.

Also note: Zoom Lense are normally banned from competative play or not looked upon lightly.

Well, aggron resists the others's stabs, except for raichu, and it gets super effective head smash against salamence and dragonite, and stab iron tail against tyranitar, and for raichu, earthquake works just fine. Type-wise, aggron has the greatest advantage.

Head Smash won't OHKO Salamence after intimadate. Aggron is also terribly slow so Dragonite and Salamence will outpace it and OHKO with a 4x earthquake. Raichu won't be beating anyone else either. Poor thing just doesn't have the speed or offensive power to take on much in the competative scene.

Yeah. If only Scizor was on the list. He could/would beat everyone bar Salamence :P

Even then he can still come up on top if its not a 1vs1.

I agree on the point that a superpower can without a doubt kill tyranitar, if he can hit first, which generally wont be the case if ur battling me. Dragonites don't tend to run scarf, and if my tar is using scarf or is DDed, which I usually use one or the other, I will kill u first. And no disrespect meant to raikt

We are assuming this is a 1vs1 battle so Ttar won't be having anytime to set up DD because of the risk of being OHKO'd by Dragonite's superpower. Dragonite's base speed is also a whopping 31 points higher than Tyranitars as well. The argument might come up that Ttar is running choice scarf but whos to say that Dragonite isn't running it either. In this case, Dragonite will win more than half of the time.

Code: [Select]
Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Multi-Scale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Focus Blast
- Earthquake
- Thunder
- ExtremeSpeed

This is actually the worst set possible for a Dragonite to run against Tyranitar. First off, Tyran's ability, sand stream, makes Thunder's accuracy only 50%. Because of the permanent sandstorm, all rock types, like Tyranitar, have their Sp.Def stat raised by 50%. Focus Blast would never OHKO Tyranitar because of this. Earthquake won't do much of a dent either because of the lack of Atk EVs. Tyranitar will always beat this set.

Though it seems both of you have forgotten another contestent, Salmence. Salamence outspeeds both Tyranitar and Dragonite and can OHKO them both with earthquake or outrage, respectivley. Tyranitar's chances of comming back and OHKOing Salamence with stone edge are diminished thanks to its Atk stat being cut in half due to intimadate. So Salamence would win against all of these other pokemon 80-90% of the time.

Aerodactyl-The fastest common lead. Able to set up stealth rocks and tuant other leads who try to set up.

Scizor-One of my favorite pokemon. With a choice band and technician, Scizor's bullet punch is able to OHKO or 2HKO almost anything that isn't resistant to it. U-turn makes it a perfect scout and can put a dent into most pokemon with its base 130 Atk stat. Its also pretty bulky and can take quite a few hits.

Jolteon-A very fast special sweeper. Jolteon is able to absorb electric attacks then retaliate with powerful T-bolts. It can use the move volt change whenever it needs to switch out of a threat or if it wants to scout. Jolteon also has moves like shadow ball hidden power grass/ice to give it near-perfect coverage.

Infernape-My favorite starter. Infernape is one of the best, if not the best, wall breakers in the game. It's fast and able to hit hard with its Fire/Fighting typing. It runs mixed sets very well thanks to its great Atk and Sp.Atk stats. Very little can switch into Infernape and still avoid being 2HKO'd. Its also one of the best users of Life Orb.

Gyarados-This thing is just a monster. I love using this thing as a tank. Gyarados is very bulky and hits like a truck after using dragon dance. Intimadate lets Gyarados come in on most physical attackers without any worry and set up.

Garchomp-The best non-legendary dragon type ever! Garchomp has an amazing Atk stat, great speed which lets it outspeed most other pokemon, and great typing in dragon/ground. After one sword dance, there is absolutely nothing other than Skarmory that can stand a combination of either outrage or earthquake. She is normally the power house of my team.
