How does the emulator work?
« on: March 16, 2010, 09:24:53 PM »
I know some stuff about emulators and private servers but i don't know anything about this! This being an mmorpg running off an emulator ( i think).  So just some basic questions.

-DB (Database)  How are you going to run the data base.  Will new pokemon be added just by simply adding them to the data base?

-What kind of core are you using, does this use a core?  If so what other cores are there

I don't know much, but i would like to know that stuff just so i can get an idea of how this works.

Yes

We don't use a prefab core. We've written all our code from scratch.

Pokemon Universe is not an emulator. An emulator is a program which can function as a different system. For example VisualBoyAdvance is basically a GameBoy Advance on your computer. This is why it can run GBA games without modification (most of the time). PU is a completely new game built by the PU team, not Nintendo.

Why is this still open?

I dont think stating that the game is being made from scratch 20 times is gonna add much value to the topic.

The fog appears, only when an idea is trying to reach me.
